@xMtysx02 I used a Line 6 Spider III 15, the Insane channel. I forgot what the settings were, but I'ma guess the treble was high, the mids were around 1-2 o' clock, the bass was 10-12 o' clock, and the gain was probably 11-1 o' clock..

on the sweeps are you doing arpeggios? cuz your doing 3 fingers. i really dont know im just a drummer.

@zachf914 Yeah I am. The arpeggios are lined up with the backing chords. The best example is at 0:51. Each line revolved around each chord, the chord progression through out the first half of the solo being a v-i-VI-v in D minor (A min - D min - Bb maj - A min). The first v chord is based off the notes A-C-E, the i chord is based off of D-F-A, and the VI chord (although it's not sweeped, but tapped) is based off of Bb-D-F, and then back to the v chord. I hope this makes sense to you.

How long did it take to learn this solo dude? And the techniques before hand like sweeping. I am trying to get an idea before I start my practice regiment haha.

@SeeDubyaa I can't remember how long it took anymore. I'm going to guess about 3-4 days. What I did was look at a lot of videos on how Muhammed does it, listen to others' interpretations of it on YouTube, and listen to the actual song as well as reading tabs off Ultimate Guitar (even though they're incorrect) to try to get as close to the solo as possible. As for the sweeping, that took half an hour to understand the concept, but years to perfect and make it sound clean.

@risingskater Practice is such a general word though, I don't know what exactly to practice, there is so many techniques in this song and I just don't know where to begin with shredding and lead.

@SeeDubyaa I'm no teacher, but I think that one thing you can do is start out with playing rhythms/rhythm guitar parts first and exercising rhythms to get a grasp on being tight with anything you play. From there, maybe, you can then work on slowly building up shredding techniques, preferably using a metronome or click track at a slow tempo and building up speed from there. I would also suggest trying to play by ear to develop perfect pitch. I hope this helps.

@SeeDubyaa start out wit theory. learn scales, it will help you a shitlot cause you know exactly what you play that way. then practice some warm-ups with a clean amp or unplugged. try to get them faster and cleaner, and use a metronome. you can do that while watching tv or anyything, but you cant practice that stuff enough! sweeping and stuff you should do exactly the same, start out slow with a clean sound and then increase tempo.

@Crabclaws If you don't mind spending the money, get it done professionally. It'll look a lot nicer, but I'm fine with the way I did it. I only scalloped the higher frets up to the 13th because I didn't want to damage the inlay, and also after playing them, I feel fine with just the higher frets scallopped. I don't really shred as much on the lower frets than I do on the upper frets.
