i think is fake... cuz he would be paralyzed when u get shock by electricity, in this case lightning which is a high voltage cause between cloud and ground. .
I've been there, not to that place, but been in the same situation. We were caught be a surprise storm that was blocked by the mountains and coming in the opposite direction from most storms. 5 of us were affected and one of us directly hit. He was unconscious for about 2 minutes though as was another person in our group. I can totally relate to his reaction, I did the same thing. It kind of throws you to the ground but not with force though its still totally out of your control.
Once my dad was outside in his shop and lighting struck a tree by him and he came in the house and said, "I taste metal...." It was SO loud when the lighting struck the tree.
He probaly got hit by a weaker side bolt or perhaps one of the streamers, not the main bolt. It would have ended differently otherwise.. The rubber does very little, if anything in a lightning strike. It might help protect against ground currents from a nearby lightning strike, and might help limit the current in a far weaker side flash, but if the main strike hits directly all bets are off. The reason why you are somewhat safe in a (metal bodied) car is because it acts as a Fariday cage.
@plateshutoverlock There is no such thing as weaker lightning. Even on the low end, a bolt of lightning measures into the 100,000,000s of volts and tens of thousands of amperes. The likely life saver here was the camera equipment. It must have directed the current around his body instead of through it. If, for instance, he was holding a boom mike hooked up to a recording system the lightning would take the path of least resistance down the boom, through the wires and into the electronics.
"On the episode of Jungle Hooks named "Amazonian Giant" filmed in 2002, it was shown Jeremy was struck in the chest by a 170 lb arapaima, which has caused long term heart damage. Later in the same show, the small aircraft carrying Jeremy and his film crew crashed into the jungle. The show concludes with Jeremy catching a 200lb 6 foot long arapaima fish. He mentions in the show that it was the largest fresh water fish he had ever caught." - wikipedia.
You guys went through so much to catch the wolf fish, but in the end it was well worth it. Most would have given up, but Jeremy and his crew are legends.
I would've freaked out and flipped a bitch but this guy was like "it just hit the top of my head" what the fuck it was a lightning strike only bad asses say these things
The rubber boots made the difference. There lightning was not able to keep going through his body for a longer time because the boots act as an isolator.
He did not take a direct hit. Maybe a stray arc but definitely not a direct hit. There would be more damage. I saw no damage to his head whatsoever and rubber soled shoes won't help with lightning. It just traveled a half mile or more thru the air...what's an inch of rubber going to matter?
that is insane that he survived and it really shows how tough he is but think about the bragging rights this guy has now! "oh ya i got hit in the head by lightning today but i only got a headache!"
"It just hit the top of my head..........." "just?!" This brave guy practically shrugs this off as a minor mishap! They were all very brave.....this is partly why this series is so entertaining.
surely the rubber boot wouldnt do anything, yes normally they would act as insulation, but the lightning just travelled from the sky through the air, im sure a couple more inches wouldn't be a problem
@MrStroked351 well, the rubber boots act as circuit breaker, if he had not wore the boots, the electricity would have flowed through him and into the ground, thus the circuit would have completed and maybe even death
@MrStroked351 rubber is rubber.. its not an insulator.. if the electricity much you will feel a bit of a "ground" thats what i call it.. but 2 inches of rubber may help
good thing he was wearing a pair of boots. if he was standing in the water it would be a complete circuit and he would died a horrible death of getting toasted by lightning
