  • i love that piano :3

  • SUPER BEAUTY BEAUTY BEAUTY FOR YOU AN PIANO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SUPER EXTRA SUPER BEAUTY!!

  • BEAUTY FUULL music and GRAND PIANO!!!=)

  • it sounds pretty cool

  • Think your camera's got a life of its own dude...

  • that's really nice and lovely song. The piano sounds amazing after 140 some years later! The past owners must have really taken good and loving care of this piano.

  • oh my god this song brought tears to my eyes it's so beautiful<3

  • I'm in High School and all the kids I know just ADORE Titanic.. this is BEAUTIFUL!

  • My square grand was made by Schomacker and co. of Philadelphia in 1851 and has been in the family since it was purchased from them by my great great great grandmother. Though in original condition, I have been able, over the course of several months, to return it to proper tune by retuning it once a week until the strings stopped stretching and it became re-accustomed to the extra tension. It plays, looks, and sounds magnificent. And I tuned it using a crescent wrench and an electronic tuner.

  • If you want to know what these pianos are worth and why they are no longer made, this website: antiquepianoshop facts-little-understood-about-square-grand-pianos will give you a decent explanation of the social aspects that led to this type of piano going out of style. I assure you it was deffinitely not because they were inferior instruments, but simply that they were no longer fashionable due to the amount of space they take up, and uprights had become the fashionable type to have.

  • @cody1800212 Respectfully, you could not be more wrong about these pianos. Thier sound is slightly different from a modern piano because the average person of the Victorian era did not like the very harsh glassy tone of the later uprights and grands. These Pianos have a softer tone which though different from modern pianos, is not inferior. Just different. Tuners will refuse to tune them out of laziness, because the tuning pins are at the back of the case which means they have to lean over it

  • I'm not sure I'd agree with your thoughts on those of the Victorian era. Preference is just that. Squares were well suited to smaller parlors hence their existence. The structure of a square and the distribution of tension of the strings makes them a tad fussy to keep finely tuned, but well so is an upright spinet. The real chore is dealing with the action of a square. Ever try restoring/rebuilding one of them? But they are delightfully charming in their own way.

  • Piano Tuners tell you that Square Grands can't be tuned. They DON'T tell you that a 100 year old Upright or Grand Piano that is in unrestored condition can't be tuned either! This is because the old strings deteriorate over time. There is an estimated 12-14 tons of tension on a Piano. When this tension is put back on these components, they simply can't hold it, causing the Piano to be unable to hold tune properly. Again, this is the case with any 100 year old Piano, not just Square Grand Pianos.

  • But any piano, square, vertical, grand etc. can be put back in to perfectly playing condition with a loving technician. The saying of "they don't make them like they used to" certainly applies to antique pianos.

  • I love to listen to you play, but GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRR this version is harder than mine :)

  • wow i love this song

  • I enjoy listening to you play. My grandmother played the piano and listening to this brought back many wonderful memories. Thank you.

  • @cody1800212 it's a relic though, but you are correct about the rest

  • holy shit. your piano is amazing. but your playing is even more so man

  • Oh my! Amazing instrument and amazing music!

  • A BEAUTIFUL TIME PICE!

  • Jonathan, Maybe you can post your 1810 piano video(s) sometime in early 2010 when it will be 200 years young! How wonderful it will be to see and hear it. :-)

  • now thats what a piano should sound like!

  • Yes this is what a piano should sound like, but I have a good feeling that Jonathan can make about any manor of piano sound great.

  • WONDERFUL sound...What a BEAUTIFUL piano!!

  • The other posts say IF I get rich. I have always said WHEN I get rich even thouhg its like 1 in a million chance. I do agree with them not only are the beautiful and unique but sound better than most. Keep up the good work and I hope to be buying a piano from you sometime.

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • I love your pianos. If I ever have lots of money, I will buy a Square Grand. Not only are they beautiful, but they are so unique! And I love antiques so that's right up my alley! I am working on this song right now. I'm not very good, but you are amazing. =)

  • I really into it and someday if I become richer I will buy square grand piano. Keep up the good work buddy!

  • Nice playing and a wide variety of beautiful instruments in this and your other videos. New Pramberger, old Bosendorfer, vintage upright and square grand -- Is there a story behind them?

  • Hello thank you for your comment. The reason I have many different pianos, is because each one has a uniquely different tonal quality. I also have a 1810 square piano which is currently being restored by D and S Pianos in London Ont. As soon as it is finished, I will post some videos featuring it.

  • You're fortunate. Few get to play such a range of instruments, and too many pianists today think only the modern design and sound is worthwhile. One of your videos had a side view of what I guess is your 1810 square, which looks great. What make is it? I have two unrestored early British 5-octave squares--a 1797 Broadwood & Son and an undated ca. 1800 Muzio Clementi. I hope to get one back to playable this year.

  • l have grand square piano at home and it is very heavy and old, l wanna sell it to....

  • don't sell the piano!!!

  • ur crazy if ur sellin dis piano just BEAUTIFUL!!!!
