Imagine if this bands actually played melodies somewhat like Avenged sevenfold...that would be nice. Unfortunatly, this bands and many others just wont let go of their technical stuff, misssing out on amazing songs they could come up with. Ever noticed that almost every metal (or whateveryouwantoclassifyourmus­ikas) bands's most apreciatedsong is the one with melody....just think of InFlames for exemple.

@LUCA7FOLD dude, no way is Avenged Sevenfold in any way comparable to DT. Petrucci is one of the worlds finest musicians, and DT explore abstract modes, like the phrygian, that you just dont get in most other subgenres of metal, you cant say they have no melody, they ooze melody!!

That was the whole point of my first comment witch sparked all this non-sens about melodic music. The use of fast tremolo and sweep picking doesn't make one technical, though their music is probably impossible to cover it is not because of their 'amazing' technical prowess but because the structure is all off it's literally just screeching and noise. Though I will say this Viraemia's drummer runs circles around Portnoy. In the end Petrucci and the gang can do all those bands did to if they just focused on speed over structure.
