hey friend.very nice and detail tutorial, however, i was just wondering how you can put in action script outside of an object but still make it works. I mean like for example "you created it animation inside a symbol kinda like a sprite within the symbol,like u know when u double click on the symbol and something opens up, like to a new animation time line or something like that". because every time i animate something inside of symbol and i then action script it outside of it it just won't work

Thanks for a good tutorial with good explanations. I'm a teacher and recognize good teaching when i see it (oh, that I could also duplicate it!). A pure beginner could get a little confused: your toolbars and windows are not where the defaults are, and I had to look around in the pull-down menus for a way to show my Scenes panel. There are a few things like that; some annotations might help. Otherwise, this was excellent. Thanks again.

WOW. I understood you much better than the book for class. I didn't even know that "scenes" existed. I don't remember the book mentioning it and then I get an assignment asking me to create buttons which navigate to different scenes! I wasted a LOT of time stressing out.

Whenever I go to a URL in Flash, it opens up a page in Chrome, but I want it to open up in Internet Explorer. Do you know how to make it open up in IE?

Under "Windows - Other Panels - Scenes". Just drag it over to the library panel area and it will look like the tutorial does.

Keep this up! In loads of tutorials they just chatter away and you go like ''wtf how the hell did he do that?'' And you need to look it through several times. But the way you did this the pace everything was so clear that I only needed one try to understand!

Hey Chad,

When you use the "get URL" function on your button is their a way to tell the flash which internet browser to use. Like if you had explorer or Firefox, but you wanted one in particular.

What the hell? This doesn't work for me for some reason. I have an animated Title screen, and I'm using the same coding as this guy to go to scene 2, but it just continues going with the music and animation I made in Scene 1, while flashing my Scene 2 sample animation after Scene 1 finishes its animation.

Great Video! I have Adobe CS4, and while most of it up to that point is exactly the same, my actionscript options (for script help) during the whole button making phase are completely different.. I have Load, Enter frame and unload, Mouse down, up, and move, Key down and up but I can't choose a key..? and Data. I am on 1.0 and 2.0, and also lost. Thanks!
