First, nice looking car. Second, N2O is not flammable, it's combustible. To have fire, you need air, fuel, and heat. When N2O is exposed to high heat, the nitrogen releases it's bond to the oxygen molecules which are about 10 times more dense than ambient air. NOS = NO2, nitros oxide (and NOS was the first most famous company to produce it so it was named after it)

it's used in racing cars to give it huge power boost

you know that internal combustion engines use (air + gas + an electric spark) to produce power, so NOS enters the engine instead of air as it gives a huge powerful explosion when burnt, and so it give the car the required kick

of course a lot of modifications got to be done to the engine to stand that kind of power

@Lovefree007 You are partially correct. NO2 doesn't inter the engine instead of air. NO2 is a combustion promoter. When injected into an engine, extra fuel and spark retarding is required to receive the benefits of NO2. Larger amounts of fuel are able to be burned efficiently because of the extra Oxygen. The extra fuel with extra Oxygen equals a larger, faster burning "bomb" in the combustion area. This faster burn requires the spark to be retarded a couple of degrees from the non NO2 setup.

When it is used in an engine, it replaces or augments the air in the engine allowing more fuel to be injected in to the cylinder while still maintaining the optimum fuel:oxygen ratio thus increasing power. However, you only have a limited supply and the increased heat and pressure can damage your engine. There are better ways to boost power. N2O is also known as 'laughing gas' as it can induce uncontrollable laughter.
