you say 100% clean but drug free doesnt mean supplement free... where do these play in your plan, ive been very ripped and i look back and i dont even feel like i know how i did it but i did very well, im not confident enough to do a show though i would love to, could you show prep online? and how do you charge for this
Good theory and well articulated, however you have a few holes in your principles. You can absolutely gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously. The problem with the powerlifting community is like you mentioned previously these competitions are flooded with performance enhancement drugs and secondly the lack of physiological understanding of exercise. A little bit of knowledge can be dangerous and many of the concepts you touched on are sound on paper but the caloric surplus vs. deficit as wel
Well I disagree. I would say that you can build muscle and fat at the same time. However the quickest way to get big and stay lean is to do bulking and cutting/maintaining phases. You can build muscle and gradually lose fat, but it's quicker to gain a large amount of mass, including fat, and then burn it whilst trying to maintain muscle. For most people it's more appropriate to gradually gain muscle and gradually lose fat simultaneously.
@Mr46674 everyone is different. Some of my clients get results in a few months, others take a few years. But in the end they worked hard and transformed their bodies. So reguardless of how much time it took, they made it.
@roughneckasian I like how varied your approach is, and i like the fact that you're a bodybuilder but train in olympic lifts, powerlifting, etc. usually it's roided out douches doing isolation exercises all day.
Tuan, very impressive results. While it may not be possible to gain muscle during the extreme rigors of cutting for a bodybuilding competition, it is possible to gain muscle while gradually losing fat. I have lost 40 lbs over the last 6 months by maintaining a slight calorie deficit and doing intense weight training 3 times per week. I've gained a whole lot of muscle mass and strength in the process. Most people don't even think I've lost weight because I look "bigger".
First off Congrats on the weight loss, now to answer your question: It is possible to gain muscle while losing body fat, however 9 times out of 10 this only works for someone who is new to weight training, once a certain amount of time has been established and your body no longer sees weight training as an extreme threat, it will eventually stop adapting as quickly as it did before. So can you gain muscle and lose fat, yes, but after 6-9 months you should really focus on just one or the other
e.g. workout days take in lots of calories for a caloric surplus, then on non workout days keep the protein intake at a high but cut out excess calories and do cardio.

I HONESTLY did not know about the different state the body is in when trying to lose body fat, or gain muscle. VERY interesting.

is the muscle loss spread even trough a whole cut ?
or is most of it once you reach the lower bodyfats the body normally never wants to go ?
as i want to cut to about 8-10% bodyfat, but it will be my first cut ever, and i'm really afraid of losing the muscle i worked so hard for.

What are your thoughts on carb cycling?
e.g. workout days take in lots of calories for a caloric surplus, then on non workout days keep the protein intake at a high but cut out excess calories and do cardio.
would like to know your view on this, thanks.
