  • I wish it was a bit simpler, geez, I ordered 2GB RAM (Random Access Memory, thought I'd add that :P) for $17 'cause I read it was a way to speed up your computer, and I need it... I could do this easier on my old laptop...

  • This just seems retarded to me, all that work to put in a stick of RAM that takes all of 5 seconds....wow...

  • i can't insert my video card 1g 9900GFX from desk top to my acer netbook aspireone AOA150 how can i slot my video card to my netbook?????

  • ya i dont know why they design them like this, but the newer models are easier. But what can ya do

  • the surface mounted connectors are truly bad -- i broker the black thingie for the ssd (still works though) and could never get the trackpad to work again...

    but the ram works =)

  • Acer's geeks were snorting coke on their break when they designed this one. Have installed ram on over 20 machines, and wouldn't even attempt this one.

  • ... and I thought it'd be easy.

  • It is possible to install memory with 2 GB and frequency 667MHz? It wil crash or will work with 1.5GB? Thanks!

  • how on earth do you remove the case? :( mine is really stuck near the 2 orange circles on both sides..

  • how to make the keyboard "clips" snap back?

my keyboard is kind of flying atm... =\

  • faaak me thats a lot of effort, why not just put an opening at the bottom of the case acer?

  • i don't think there's anything to be scared of if you can competently change a light bulb. Just gently prize out the keyboard remove the screw and don't yank on the ribbons until they're unclipped. I personally found this a quick and easy job. BTW i read that the removable cover underneath was for future models that include 3g/mobile broadband. I think you'll slot a sim card in there

  • Those models already exist. I bought one for $99 w/ AT&T DataConnect service contract from RadioShack in December that says it was manufactured in November. AOA 150-1987

  • ANY GUYS UP?

    anyone want to chat 8K

  • Whats the free slot on the back of the laptop for? it's near the battery, and it's got 2 screws. just wondering...

  • i was wondering the same exact thing, let me know if you find out, cuz im still looking

  • hey! how much it can support?? 1.5Gb or 2Gb?? or even higher??

and.. how much cam be slotted?? 2 or 1??

    thx for your fast reply...

  • did you ever find out how much ram it can take? cuz ive been researching since i bought it, also wondering if i can put a 7200rpm hdd in it instead of a 5400

  • yea... but it will eat a lot of battery your battery will be off in 5 minutes... ever wonder why 3.5inch HD had external power supply? hmmm?

  • it can take 1.5gb

the asus eee 1000 can take 2gb

  • Kingston? Corsair? Crucial? etc

  • Apacer , ddr2

  • and u can call me salman

  • Corsair all the way man!

    ;)

  • it works very fast nothing problem at all and i'm serious

  • What brand and type of RAM did you use sixxxPsP?

  • hello i have the acer aspire one xp,hdd ver. and i upgraded the ram to 3gb ddr2 and it works very fast,no problem at all

  • You mean you installed a 3GB RAM module in the slot and it worked? Which one?

  • which one ? explain pls! my english is very bad

  • If I put 2GB memory in the empty slot, he theoretically would have 2.5gb. The win xp will recognize 2GB memory (which is the limit) or the bios that limits the 1.5gb? I am in Brazil, around here do not have many people who understand the Acer Apire One

  • I have you to try it myself, but I remember reading that the Aspire One will not boot with a 2GB stick in there.

  • I have yet to try it myself*

  • Upgrading ram in an hp 2133 is much easier just get the keyboard off and you're done, i wonder why acer made it too complicated.

  • can the RAM on the acer aspire one with Linpus and 8gb ssd memory be expanded to 1.5gb?

  • Yes, both the 1gb and 512mb models have soldered on ram of 512mb. on yours, the extra ram socket is empty. on the 1gb model, one 512 mb ram module is added along with the soldered ram built onto the motherboard. You just need to get a 1gb stick of ram and you will have 1.5gb of ram too.

  • yes it can not sure if it would help much with linpus lite though

My Acer aspire one came with 512 MB of RAM and a 120gb hd

If you have the hard drive version installing the RAM is a little bit different

I have posted a really good video up of the process of taking it apart as well as putting it back together

so check out my videos there also in high quality

  • This computer is really well put together, I did the ram upgrade myself. I noticed you forgot one screw next to the pci-x. slot, where the wifi-adapter would be. And btw., that small lid on the underside of the PC, what is it for? There is nothing to connect there...

  • I would be way to scared to ungrade the ram, if i would do something wrong, i would have to kill myself.

  • Agreed.

I was too scared watching the guy in the video do it !

  • I wonder of Microcenter or Best Buy, or anyone, would be willing to install the RAM; I guess I'll do some calling.

  • I agree, BUT I've always been known to accept good challenges. Also, if you look online 1.5 GB ram Acer Ones are like $100 more than the 512 MB ones. If you do it yourself that's saving like $70, and reducing your cost to like $300-320 depending upon where u get the thing. Worth it to me.

  • Or you could lose, $300 if you break it, plus it breaks the warranty, So it's a no from me...

  • Actually I've heard that it doesn't from elsewhere, but I'm going to have to agree with you on the fact that it does. I mean why on earth would someone take something back that you've done ^ that to lol.

  • Well for anything, you could drop it, some hardware/software may fail, and if any of this did happen youu would have to fix it will your own money, so i feel having a sleightly slower machine is a better and safer bet.
