  • @AdixJFrhcp pick scratching first string.;)

  • I was born 2013 and still love this shit :)

  • Oh Baby Funk Meeeee

  • Comment removed

  • i was born in the year 1987, what a great year for music....

  • Is it Green Haven or Green Heaven?

  • @munnyay green heaven ofc, marihuanaaa e.e

  • @BraisOtero weed e,e

  • The instrumental sounds a lot like Walkabout. Just My Opinion!

  • @MissEMA090 dont blame the decade...blame society, radio, television, and theres more but those are the main two....OH and dont forget the assholes in the music industry not signing REAL BANDS

  • "Isn't it bitchin' seein' dead men in ditches?" Amazing how relevant the song remains after all these years. "Back to the land of the policeman, who does whatever he says he can... they use guns, clubs, gas, but that's not all.."

  • 6 people born in the 90s

  • @Craz4RHCP11 I was born in the 91, but I prefer the old chili peppers ever, and I love Hillel Slovak..

  • @Craz4RHCP11 I was born in the 90s and love this song!!!

  • @Craz4RHCP11 born in 92' im ashamed -_-

  • Guitar is sic

  • if only we could hear anthonys voice a bit better :^/

  • the bassline

  • how that song called when the lead guitar dose like TUTututTUtu and i think they sing some one talk ot me or somthn?

  • @MissEMA090 dont blame the decade, just your parents. :)

  • Awesome song and anthony says it would have been better if they had a better producer.

AMAZING LYRICS! ONE OF THE BEST AND UP THERE WITH CALIFORNICATION!

  • @emvir8gto8

They have dozens upon dozens of songs FAR better than Californication, instrumentally and lyrically. The strange thing is, most of them are b-sides.

  • @Bendrix27 yeah i know but not only the lyrics in californication but the concept and ideology of it too is phenomenal, dig it?....and i wouldn't say they have dozens upon dozens of songs better than californication. :)

  • @emvir8gto8

    Sorry, but I would.

"Eskimo", "Out Of Range", "Save This Lady", "Whatever We Want", "Quixotic Elixer", "Time", "Lately", "Joe", "Someone", "Behind The Sun", "Melancholy Mechanics" and "Rivers Of Avalon" are all world's beyond the caliber of ANY SONG on the Californication album in my sincere opinion. Dispute if you must, but I could never agree.

  • @Bendrix27 ah fuck off you obviously dont get what im saying...whatever

  • @emvir8gto8

    You're obviously a complete idiot.

  • @Bendrix27 no i don't think so, thats cool though calling someone an idiot over the internet, nice, very impressive.

  • @emvir8gto8

    Cheers, I thought so.

  • @Bendrix27

i would say that every rhcp song is precious. no matter if funk, pop, rock or cross over

  • This is such a good song.

  • BCCIC- BLUE COLD CHILLY ICE CUBES- Red Hell

  • @MissEMA090 80s actually..

  • & ajwhite it nevermind they are traditional funk + George Clinton helped them

  • @ajwhite98 you are right they are funk but the other guy was right not funk like geoge clinton there funk rock and funk metal punk rock and alternative but it's cool how they have a lot of genres incorporated

  • my heaven is hot, red hot

  • peppers are good full of nutrients

  • those are the true rhcp, not those of by the way and stadium arcadium

  • please watch my Scar Tissue vid with hot babes ;)

    /watch?v=Rf1sMkPh97c

  • /watch?v=Rf1sMkPh97c

  • I wonder how their new stuff is gonna sound with Klinghoffer and the more complex song-writing. To me, all their stuff is awesome though, wouldn't have a tattoo of their logo otherwise :)

  • '-'

  • Damn the begining is soo sick i love it !

  • I prefer Hillel or Navarro to Frusciante

  • @eastvanisfun what dont you like about frusciante

  • best lyrics ever

  • they orignated this style that funk rap shit, hell yeh

  • We need more bands like RHCP now a days.

  • Cos every1s crazy, every1s the same....

  • That's insane... Really clever lyrics..

  • Hahahaha this is great

  • wasnt this their second song?

  • all of there albums were good , you call yourselvs fans then quit nit picking and suport the bands creativiy and expirmenting. iv only heard a couple of songs by rhcp i dont cair for and thats bound to happen. to any fan of any band and stadium arcadium is there best buy far because it is a compilation of all they have done, learned and changed. if you disagree its because of your musical preferance is 80 years old and cant exept evolution and change.

  • @1andycody Your experimentation with spelling is more haphazard than their stadium arcadium album.

  • @craigadee stadium arcadium kicked ass

  • @1andycody no... i can accept evolution and change, but i personally think mothers milk is their best album. of course stadium arcadium is an amazing album but just because not everybody doesn't agree that SA isn't their best album doesn't mean we can't accept evolution and change. I love new rhcp and i love old rhcp but i prefer an older rhcp album

  • "psychedelic, intelligent and mentally travel into the new dimension" :)

  • i read scar tissue before i heard this song, and when i read the lyrics in the book, i thought it sounded totally stupid. but of course, anthony kiedis makes it work.

  • @annaiscool2344 Dude same here!

  • @annaiscool2344 Dude I feel the same way.

  • The intro is simply perfect!! ...

  • Favourite RHCP albums: MM and OHM. All of them are pretty good, except BTW is a bit mediocre and SA is fucking terrible. They were my favourite band during my early/mid teens and could do no wrong in my eyes, but now that I've branched out I can look at them a bit more objectively.

Anyway, this is a great song :)

  • @donnymurph hm OHM fucking sucks dude! technically and musically, BSSM is their greatest album and personally my favorite. their funkiest album would be UMPP or Freaky Styley. and of their new melodic and mainstream stuff, I would pick Californication. and yes SA indeed is terrible except a few songs!

  • @Kakaxxx222 It's all a matter of opinion. I really like Dave Navarro as a guitarist, both on OHM and in Jane's Addiction. That said, I like Frusciante too, and have a fair few of his solo albums.

OHM sucking is a pretty common theme among RHCP fans, quite a lot of people I've seen though, who originally hated the album, have repented when they've given it a listen through from go-to-whoa a couple of times, and realised how cohesive it is. Like I said though, it's all opinion...

  • @donnymurph yeah you're right though I listened to OHM to give it a try and still didn't like it. I don't think the chemistry was right within the band around that time with Dave. I love John as a Chili guitarist and as an indivdual, his playing is just so incredibly natural and wonderful.

  • @donnymurph WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYIN? BY THE WAY is a very good album! all their song are so artistic! i loved his lyrics! in my opinion the only bad album of the red hot chili peppers is TUMPP.... it's my own opinion of course!

  • the drums sound kind of annoying. very electronic-sounding.

  • While the demo version is better the drums actually sound really good here and Sherman really shreds it

  • Back to the land of the police man where he does what ever he says can <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< so true !!!

  • The first four RHCP albums are over looked. Most people listen to their more commercially and radio friendly records. This stuff is really funky. Also noticed that Anthony rapped lyrics more in these days. Now RHCP play soft rock and acoustic numbers. Not a bad direction for them to go.

  • @PearlJammer07 The 1st 4 and BSSM are their best by far. Stadium Arcadium is fucking terrible.

  • @Carpanbkt69 It's not terrible it's just closer to pop-rock, instead of funk or punk like this

  • demo version much better than this imo

  • @bcgabriot

yeah im with you on that :p

  • FUNKING HELL this is an awesome song!

  • he's like the John Lennon of funk.

  • @RedAsterisk ......Funk?

  • @metatronsfury yes this is funk..

  • 1:26 ♥♥♥♥♥ anthony :)

  • im just recently getting into this band. i used to not like them but i dig this and their older stuff WAY more than their new stuff. which of their first three albums should i get? someone should help me out, i need to get the right one

  • @howdyhoyo you should get uplift mofo party plan to start out

  • @DrShred47 thanks man, i'll definately be checkin it out.

  • @howdyhoyo I would recommend Uplift Mofo Party Plan! TBH all of them are fantastic albums, but Backwoods has a great bassline and you'll love Love Trilogy :)

  • @RedHotChilliiPeppers hey man thanx, but i already got mofo party plan based off other guys comment. but you're right and backwoods has an incredible bassline, as do alot of the songs. thanks for the recommendation though.

  • Blood sugar sex magic is a masterpiece, everything else is hit and miss. Their real early stuff I find to be pretty obnoxious, it lacks the melodic genius developed later. Overall, they're an excellent American artistic treasure.

  • @feely121 No waaay man mothers milk is class so is one hot minute californacation uplift mofo party plan come on man

oh and freaky styley so funky !

  • @Martothe111

i'll pass on one hot minute.

not a navarro fan at all

  • someday mister dolphin i no im goin to meet you!

  • pero que cagada

  • Still so very profound today, maybe even more than when it was written so long ago.

  • this shits nasty i love it never heard it before

  • demo>studio by MILES.

  • gutted slovak couldnt do this version :/ much better than any other guitarist they had, much as i like them all slovaks the best. the demo is much better than this version, but i don't blame them for not making it as good, as this was slovaks best/favourite peice i think keidis says on a sleeve somewhere.

  • old chili peppers had so much of that funk!

  • listen to this one, then the demo right after. its sounds like a continuation from the orginal. even tho its just like more spead up and different it sounds realy cool if you play them right after each other/.

  • kick ass song !!

  • The Red Hot Chili Peppers (1984)

  • Which album is this on??

  • @Rabbit13Jessica originally off the out in la demo, with hillel slovak. not sure this version but i wud recommend listening to the one off the demo album :)

  • jack didnt write this song, he just learned it.

  • jack sherman may have a rep of being supernerdasshole, but he wrote some bad ass guitar riffs

  • You're definitely right about that, but this isn't one of them. Green Heaven was one of the demos the band recorded with Hillel and Irons early on. Hillel wrote this guitar riff.

  • @mesoocoool oh really? well hillel, i think, was better than jack anyways, maybe not as technical, but definently more creative and fitting for the early, funky chili pepper style. and irons was a beast drummer

  • nice

  • this songs about the ocean or so he says in his interview

  • fuck you

  • @vesper2006 I think Hillel wrote all the guitar parts for the first album though, jack just recorded them

  • Jack wrote Mommy where's Daddy On the first album.

  • @1000guitarplaya anthony kiedis wrote out in la, and a lot of more, but of course with hillel

  • @1000guitarplaya Why did that get 5 thumbs up? That statement is only half true

Songs Sherman co-wrote on the debut album:

    True men don't kill coyotes

    Mommy wheres daddy

    Buckle down

    Grand pappy du plenty

  • @1000guitarplaya Nope Jack wrote them all apart from Out in LA, Police Helicopter, Get up andJump and Green Heaven:)

  • @1000guitarplaya It was half an half really. Green Heaven, Out In LA, Police Helicopter, and Get Up and Jump.... maybe another song too.... were all Hillel written. The other songs were done with Jack Sherman.

  • straight from his book, anthony says this is about the police corruption in LA

  • Kiedes speaks the truth my friends. Grab an ear and listen to the smooth tones.

  • hey what genre would u say this is? seriously

  • this isn't frusciante asshat

  • This is one of the greatest forgotten songs in rock hisotry.

  • so true

  • @Sumokurt1 You mean - funk history :)

  • @ssrhcpgirl035 funk is a sub-genre of rock

  • @ajwhite98 uhhhh nope. Actually this genre what the rhcpers playd is punk or punk-rock. It sounds funky, but that is actually wrong. Coz funk is like P-funk/george clinton/sly and the family stone.

  • @JHmusic4ever did you actually read scar tissue?or no?cuz kiedis calls rhcp a funk band

  • @ajwhite98 Not the official funk. And who is Kiedis to say punkrock is funk haha. But who cares, their music is awesome

  • @JHmusic4ever official funk?what are you, retarded?

  • @ajwhite98 Chill out. The only thing I said is that this genre is punk or punkrock and funk is like the bands I called. Look Them up. P-FUNK. with numbers as We Need The FUNK, and heck a lot of other songs, do you even know the band? I bet you don't. And omg you called me retarded, hahaha.. get a life, and reply with sum arguments next time.. Not necessary actually, I don't give a damn

  • @JHmusic4ever do you want to know my top 10 favorite songs, burro? 1.californication 2.cant stop 3.dani california 4.especially in michigan 5.otherside 6.tell me baby 7.fortune faded 8.snow (hey oh) 9.hump de bump 10.scar tissue these are my favorite songs OF ALL TIME, not just by the band and, so as not to piss off OTHER people (which i really have a talent for doing), im not saying that these are the best, only that theyre my favorites
  • @JHmusic4ever also, according to every site listed from google ive ever seen, rhcp is classified as either rock, funk, or alternative rock

i dont see punk or pfunk in there, do you?

  • @JHmusic4ever btw-

    vocals-kiedis

    drums-smith

    guitar-currently, klinghoffer, best was frusciante

    bass-flea(balzary)

formed by kiedis, flea, hillel, and irons

yeah , maybe a few years ago i didnt know much about rhcp, but i actually read scar tissue and found out about them, rather than making stupid comments about stuff that i didnt know

  • @ajwhite98 Lol you've no ieda what I meant and you reply with a comment which doesn't make ANY sence.

  • @JHmusic4ever and you think IM retarded

  • @ajwhite98 If you think so... I'm getting pretty tired of this conversation, leave it..

  • @JHmusic4ever you have to admit, though, a lot of people probably enjoy reading this

  • @ajwhite98 haha I guess so

  • @ajwhite98 HILLEL WAS THE BEST BITCH.

  • @OpIvyBlackOps no way, frusciante owns

  • @OpIvyBlackOps as much as i love hillel i still think frusciante made them better

  • @ajwhite98 btw-

your knowledge on the band doesn't really contribute to how much you enjoy the music or any particular guitarist. And i'm not sure if Anthony wrote scar tissue so fans could feel big about how much they know compared to others, but the important thing is you gave it a go.

    Thanks for Playing! :)

  • @MrSlenderlorris this isnt about me knowing more about rhcp than others, its about people knowing the true genre of rhcp

  • @ajwhite98 You can't really say that, RHCP have (and i'm sure will) ventured into so many genres. Part of their brilliance is they have no set genre if they wanna try something they try it.

  • @IDSVilla true, but their main genre is funk. every album has its stone set in funk

  • Wonderfully crafted piece of music.

    ^ thats it, just.. wow

  • this song has a good message in it

  • i feel like i should be on Acid and mescaline :)

  • bro wth u talking bout?

  • great song! (L)

  • demo better with talk box =]

  • Absotively !

  • page and hendrix were frusciantes BIGGEST influences.

[those two are the greatest ever imo]

and he then became obssesed with hillel and the chili peppers.

  • that is totally false... john loved jimi hendrix as a child and even taught himself the entire electric ladyland album by ear. u do not deserve to have rhcp represented in ur name. and u are not a fan of frusciante and not a fan of rhcp. fans would know the influences of their favorite band way better than u do... so i mean what i say.

  • lol little extreme there. who the hell cares who influenced RHCP or john at a given moment. all you should care about is the good music they make.

  • because i have a more ful understanding of where the muysic comes from i probably enjoy their good music more than you do... and redhotdrchilipeppers... was the one who was talking about influences and i was merely correcting him.. and if you dont know that hendrix and page were frusciantes biggest influences as a young artist i think you should be told.. so i told him.

  • I thought it was a Sex Pistols album he taught himself so that his parents would by him an electric.

  • holy shit this sounds so much like sir psycho sexy.

  • wow great call i never realized that...good ear

  • this is extremely reminiscent of "nina's song"

  • yeah, it uses most of the same lyrics.

  • i love the old stzufff

  • When you see RHCP live, they usally never play their old music like this song. This song goes back to 1984. And the other fact that the guitar player and drummer are different. Chad and John didn't come along until later.

  • why would chad and john want to play stuff they didnt make

  • watch?v=JSUjTXSVgjA

  • yeah but thats a cover of hendrix not the old rhcp members stuff

  • so? it's not their stuff and they're playing it
