  • Can someone tell me what the main purpose of this Alarm is for? I live in Los Angeles and we had something similar to this in the 60's during the Cold war. They no longer exist here.

  • @JarheadPatriot0311 These are used primarily for tornado warnings. I believe LA actually still has a bunch of sirens left from its old Civil Defense system, though they have not been used for many years.

  • It's looks kind of scary spinning in the darkness.

  • You can hear a slight pitch change across the duration of the video. That means it's running off a battery and the drain is beginning to cause a voltage drop. Uh oh...

  • yeah i can hear that too.

  • i live in New Berlin

  • This system is junk. Between city noise and the pounding of heavy rain or hail, chances of you hearing this aren't that great, esp. if you're in an inner area not near a window. Call this The Flaccid Economy Model.

  • Thanks for that bit of wisdom, Professor.

They're in place to warn people OUTDOORS and the pitch of these sirens is optimal for penetrating ambient noises. They do their job well and you simply don't know what you're talking about. But thanks again for your brilliant take on the subject. You're a real winner.

  • You're an idiot. Like RamFett said these are part of an OUTDOOR warning system. Indoor warning systems are things such as the EAS, and NOAA Weather Radios.

  • Nice video. These ones seem higher pitched than our T-128s.

  • Our's too (Memphis')

  • Ramfett, Behind My Old House, There Was A T-135 That Was Tested Evrey Wednesday For a 2Minute Alert/Attck. And From My Current House, There Is a T-128, Less Then a mile away, You Can Hear It Clearly From my House, It Sounds Like It's My Front Yard!

  • Yeah, the T-128's low tone carries very well. It doesn't surprise me that you can hear it well from that distance.

  • Well thankfully that`s what they are meant for.

  • There's a new T135 close to my place!

  • Uh, Ramfett? Have You Ever Seen a Wheelen 4000 In The State Of Wiconsin, Because I Live In Wisconsin, And There Are a Lot Of T-128's In Wisconsin.

  • Nope. In fact, I've personally never seen a Whelen of any type in WI. American Signal is based here, so it stands to reason that there are a lot of their products around.

  • Thanx.

  • haha! That puts it mildly. It makes me feel sick. lol

  • 1-New Berlin is called that because of the large number of German immigrants that made up the population in that part of Wisconsin. 2-I'm not from there. 3-That was another asswad saying that england sucks. I have always admired the british, personally. 4-There's worse stuff on Youtube (why don't you contribute something of your own before you complain?). 5-Get your facts straight and piss off.

  • Nah, it's not that bad. Actually a pretty cool state to live in.

  • I have nothing against Wisconsin. My apologies!

  • Yeah, I Live In Wisconsin Too, And It's Awsome! And This Exact Kind Of Siren Is In My Neighborhood!

  • Some of my really good friends live in Wisconsin...

  • crancrab1 has been blocked.

  • no not about the video, the saying, PWNED!! LOL

  • Oh, okay. Rather coincidental that he DOES have a "stolen" video of this exact siren, though.

  • 21/m/New Berlin we don't say "PWNED" around here. Rofl

  • im not from new berlin, from england. got a problem with that?

  • yea, I don't like englanders

  • and i dont like you, simple as that.

  • why would i want to know what you look like? im not interested in that. and im saying i hate you because your holding a grudge against me and other siren fans. dipwad

  • Crancrab you racist, grump747 did nothing wrong.

  • Seeing a tornado siren going off. Don't like it? Don't watch it, ass.

  • I agree with you 100%.

  • crancrab1, you just got PWNED!

  • LOL, ROFL. That was a good one John.

  • thanks to theshiggityshwa for the original!

  • What original?

  • Looks like that really hit a nerve with you. In that case, all I have to say is, what is the point of this hellaciously boring video roflmfao!

seriously tho, I think I will just sit around for 45 minutes to an hour and watch a siren going. Lmao! come on you people! You'd have to be in dire need of a life to do something like that.

  • Siren fans (there are more of us out there than you think) spend time recording sirens and sharing videos with one another to enjoy. There's nothing wrong with that. You on the other hand, apparently have nothing better to do with your precious time on this earth than bother people on the internet. For that, I pity you. Now please go bother somebody else.

  • All the T-128's in Omaha sound exactly like this.

  • Since I took this recording (mid-august) this siren has developed a slightly raspy sound to it. There's more of a waver to the pitch that's most evident at wind up and wind down. I have a newer video to post as soon as I can edit the file size down by a few MB.

  • i was having a soccer game and they are so so so so so loud!!!!!

  • The wind down almost sounded like one of the Q sirens on fire trucks.

  • What kind of sounding would you call this more a Howling or a screaming?

  • I'd say howling. 2001's scream. The wind up and wind down sound cool, though. I don't especially like T-128's, but they're still better than 2001's or Whelens. This audio is slightly distorted from the digital camera I shot it with. It's most noticable when it points at the camera.

  • I agree.

  • Does New Berlin still have those ACA Allertronic 6000's?

  • They used to. I think there may still be one or two left, but I'll have to confirm that.

  • No, the last ones were taken out this year. In their place is a system of brand new T-128's. There is still an 8-speaker Allertronic 6000 in St. Francis, which I will try to get a test of on video some time. They test second wednesday of the month with Milwaukee County. I may not be able to get it for a while, though.

  • Great video!! If you could video a T-135 AC/DC ( aka T-132) that would be awesome because that siren has not been put on film yet!

  • Yes. That particular siren is in Wauwatosa, and is part of Milwaukee county's siren system. The next test is scheduled for the second wednesday in November. I should have it soon after that-if they decide to test, that is. If it's cloudy at test time, they'll cancel. Milwaukee also has a lot of T-135's/P-50's.

  • Ya If you could get that siren(T-132) you would be the first, i guess because they are still so rare, but that would be great if you could. That would make you awesome in my eyes!
