First of all , chimps DO eat meat , they are omnivores (although many people don't know this)
And second , elephants are herbivores ,they have something in their guts that break down the cell-walls from plants ,and so , they can more easly convert proteins from plants then we do , because we don't have the ability (or at least not that much) to break down that cell-wall ;)
PS : excuse me for my english , and , you're doing a nice work with those vids :)
Chimps do in fact eat meat, however, not out of necessity. They kill chimps belonging to different 'groups' to establish dominance. They don't need to eat meat.
I haven't heard of them eating rats, but, yes, they do kill and eat other monkeys for political senses. Also, the males that kill often share the meat with females as a bribe to become their mate.
How do i know how much i have to eat , and WHAT , if i want to SUSTAIN my muscle mass.
I train one day , then rest a day , then train again , then rest again , and i want to know how to sustain my muscles during rest periods. (remember , i'm not talking about gaining , i'm talking about sustaining my muscle mass , nnot losing any cause of lack of nutrition)
this is probably true. I'm not eating all raw food, but when I analyzed my own diet I usually tend to eat stuff that's cheap, and foods that i don't have to prepare. so most of my diet is pretty much cashew nuts and fruits. And I'm getting bigger and stronger all the time without outrageous amounts of lean protein like chicken breast and egg whites. One thing I do think we need though, are carbohydrates for energy. I can't work out without a few fruits first
Theres an ad on tv here in Australia with Sam Neil in it. He's walking around with a monkey and explaining all the vitamins & minerals in red meat. They're basically implying that our brains and bodies only developed because of red meat. Its REALLY irritating.
you're so right!!. 100% raw is so intimidating and hard to do without practice. going high raw and experimenting is the way to go to find what works best rather than just believing some guru!! thanx for the inspiration mate!!
Great video!! Thanks for making all these terrific points! I believe we all find our way to our greatest health when we consider what it is we are doing and we find a way to be healthy that works for us! 5 stars!! :)
Very good info... and it is kind of the way you explained your own eating transition... I guess, if it is not forced, it goes pretty much that way for most people... thank You for sharing your experiences. It's good not to be limited.
For a month or two I experimented with high raw and a few weeks before new years I found myself the most high raw, I started going back to the gym as part of a new year's resolution started early and I found I had so much more energy than I had before being a vegan so that truly was my biggest motivating factor to remain at least 80% raw everyday. I have found that strength training is so much easier high raw, my recovery is always so fast!
I really enjoy your videos, a real voice of change!
Thanks, this really helped put things in perspective for me. I've been so focused on being 100% raw, but I definitely don't want it to turn into dogma, restriction, anxiety, or rigidness. It should be all about just eating what makes you feel good, like you said. I feel good on lots of fruits, moderate amount of veggies and greens, and very low fat. But that doesn't mean I have to be afraid to have some non-raw once in a while. And if it makes me feel bad, I'll know for next time.
have you built muscle and lost fat while getting your squat up as you said? Or just builked? I am trying to lean out and gain weight at the same time, working so far but i'm still skinny! haha
Sorry, I hit post by accident . I was saying that I wish I had half the money I've spent on protein and other supplements over the years. I was a big believer in the 1-2 gram of protein per lb. of body weight theory. I haven't read any recent bodybuilding magazines, but I believe Dexter Jackson is the current Mr. Olympia. He's a beast!
Well raw food doesn't desscribe anything about a muscle building diet. We need to be specific here . . . lots of greens, lots and lots, mmixed with fruit always, Nuts by themselves, fruit never eaten along. Bee pollen, spirulina. Do that and it's pretty easy to be raw. I don't count my protein, but I think I get 60-70 at least, eating low carb, and I weight 145.
But 20g of meat protein is a fraction of 20g of bee pollen protein, so that theory doesn't mean anyhting b/c doesn't differentiate
Thank you! My trainer (yes, I still occasionally workout with one) is constantly trying to push tons of protein on me... I think the proof is in the pudding when it comes to our protein needs for bodybuilding. Thanks for being a great example of this.
I just found this video about a 72-year-old bodybuilder on a diet of BEANS, NUTS, FRUITS & VEGs (prob. not all raw) and remembering these comments of yours
Thanks for the link! I always find it particularly amusing when people say things like the anchors did in this clip: "Nuts? Beans? Fruits and Vegetables? I couldn't do that. Hahaha. Throw a cheeseburger into the mix..." Right - who wants to look awesome? feel great? live long? That's just RIDICULOUS! *sigh* Food is fuel, and when it tastes great, that's awesome. But there are better forms of entertainment... travel, exploration, seeing your grandkids grow up and get married... :)
what about the protein from microbes?

When I get cravings for cooked food I eat tons of fruit and it goes away, if I feed my cravings then I end up binging and feel so sick afterwards.

@malulie Don't they also eat smaller monkeys and rats and such ? (when easy to catch)
or is that allso a more teritorial matter ?

I eat about 65 % raw right now , and all my food intake is about 90% organic.
I'm not vegan I'll eat fish sometimes or goat milk. They're more agreeable with me than any other animal product.
For protein I take sunwarrior protein and make hemp protein smoothies.
I'm 5'7" and 130lbs very little body fat.
Any other tips greatly appreciated.
