Please click on YouTube: LEO GEORGE'S SPEECH (1996)
Dear friends, I made this video when I went to the International Conference on AIDS in Vancouver (1996). Afterwards, by chance (a serendipitous not a transcendental meeting), I would meet Leo during a boat trip between Nanaimo and Vancouver.
For me, it was a powerful moment since I had experienced a burnout syndrome after dealing with many AIDS patients during the earlier 90's (cont)
(cont) I see on the web there are many businesses related to the TWN symbols. For instance, a school called Skills Development Center. What is the relationship between this project and the history of the TWN?
Well, if you are interested in knowing how the NGO where I work acts in Brazil rescuing the traditions of First Nations as part of our overall efforts in defence of health, educational, environmental and other human rights of socially excluded people, please visit our website VIRAMUNDO
(cont) Where are the pages covering Leo and Dan George's journeys through life? And where are the references about other courageous warriors of this people of the inlet?
I am afraid that capitalist interests have imposed a defeat, a new kind of defeat that has stolen the true Tsleil-Waututh's fiber.
I do not know anything about the current leadership of this admirable Nation, but I can see that its website reveals a weakness, a empoverishment of the rich Tsleil-Waututh's culture. (cont)
(cont) The song is also a call to change the world on diversity, tolerance and redemption of our humanity, urging everyone to stop racism and discrimination.
But, now I would like to express my disappointment with the Tsleil-Waututh's website. After all, the current one is a mere commercial stuff, without the rich contents that describe the historical references of the brave Nation. (cont)
(cont) Let me tell you I am a Brazilian MD and as far as I could understand Leo's in-depth words, he taught me the following I understood as a metaphoric wisdom that cames from time immemorial: "we preserve the health when the spirit lives within the heart. The disease appears when the spirit abandons its natural home, the heart. To bring the health back, it is necessary that the spirit, in the cadence of a flying eagle, returns to its natural home, the heart. " (cont)

When I was 19 (11 years ago), I was nominated by Chief Lennard George for my perserverance and courage.
Then he thanked me again personally while I was calling for a ride home :).
