@Stolen1231 I remember seeing that used by the Royal Marines. If I am correct, it is a laser used for training with blank rounds. They will track where the blanks go. If I'm not right then they're probably just used to mark that the weapons are safe.
Its a plug screwed on the barrel to stop the splinters from the wooden tips of blank rounds from shooting straight out of the barrel. At close range they can be somewhat dangerous or atleast painful. Not sure why they had them on during live round excercise. Maybe the shots were edited from different filming day, or they got handed their ammunition at the barracks and had to secure the weapons during transport when there's no instructors watching so closely.
The laser tagging pointer thingy they use in some combat practise is a different module attached to the side of the barrel. It gets the signal to "fire" a laser beam from the recoil or shake of the blank rounds. Then everyone is also wearing reseptors in straps on their body and helmet that detect the shots and a small computer box that has a buzzer to indicate casualty and some memory where they can collect data from the battle.
Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding the other episodes. Also the last two parts of this episode are being difficult to upload hopefully i get them up soon.
I was watching this on TV,why they have some kind of yellow thing on the gun?
I've never seen that on a gun before.
