I'm againt the things people say about Fonda, but alot of the people who went to Vietnam were good people and you shoulden't generalize them by calling them trash. I don't agree with thier pea brined comments about jane, but they weren't bad people and I'm 98 percent sure they diden't want to be there.

I personally go out of my way to thank everyone I see in uniform, we Vietnam Era Vets will never allow them to suffer the terrible treatment we recieved in the 60's

No, I have never served in the military and am not about to say otherwise. I respect those who do. Don't insinuate that I hate our servicemen and woman. This country hs mountians of flaws and as a taxpaying, voting citizen, I feel privy to call my country out on them. However the GI's are doing something I could never do and I respect that deeply.
They obviously feel diferently about Fonda, but that's fine by me. I loathe hoe people think that if your anti war, your anticountry and solider...

So many lies about Jane Fonda have been circulating for too long. These lies are made up and circulated to cast her in the role of a scapegoat for an immoral and criminal war, because it's much easier to pick on a Hollywood actress than it is to go after the real criminals: top officials in the government, both Democratic and Republican, who planned and carried out the war. Also, from the very beginning of her anti-war involvement Fonda was supported by many GIs.

To me it's precisely Jane Fonda's committed and courageous stance on Vietnam that allows her to transcend even her great accomplishments in film. I think of Mohammad Ali in the same way. He's considered by many the greatest athlete of the 20th century, but I think what makes him universally loved throughout the world is his firm anti-war, anti-racist stance, for which he had to pay the price when he refused to be sent to Vietnam to kill people who were not his enemy.

I'm only 17 and still jane fonder has changed my life and i think she is wonderful and yes she may have made mistakes but who hasn't?
I think if people can write on here honestly and say what she has done in the past she should be punished for should take a look at themselves and see what makes them so perfect and that will be hard as nobody is perfect so people need to let go she has addmitted to her mistakes and apologised for the ones she felt needed to be, so give her a brake and move on.

When you honor someone who sat on a gun turret in Vietnam and laughed at the implication, called herself a "peace activist" in her book, and virtually spat on American soldiers at the time, you are just as hypocritical as she is. How would SHE, Jane Fonda, or YOU, Chairperson of USCB, feel if someone sat on a gun after killing your child? TELL US! You've got nerve treating her as a hero. Shame on you.

If you laugh on a gun turret or take sides in combat, you are not a peace activist. The mothers of those sent to Nam had little to say of their children's fate. Unlike Fonda, they weren't from a rich, sheltered family. Their sons were drafted and told what to do. Fonda told others what to do, but didn't take responsibility for others. When she says that the Vietnamese didn't torture, do you believe her? Our fascination with movie stars should stop when they lie.

I've read Fonda's book, "My Life So Far" where she fully admits her flaws & mistakes. The biggest going to N. Vietnam & sitting on top of an anti-aircraft gun. What ever one thinks of her or her politics at least she has the honesty to admit mistakes unlike the current administration. The bigger mistake was the War. Telling Vietnam vets to get over it is harsh & does not get to the root of their pain. No more harsh than what conservatives tell blacks, Native Americans, Palestians, etc.

The Vietnam war was started to try to contain communism, just like we are starting preemptive wars today to stop terrorism. Maybe our government should focus on issues here at home and stay out of everybody elses business. It is the government that killed the soldiers, if they had never started the war than there would have been nothing for Jane Fonda to visit...fucking duh.

200,000 Vietnamese were tortured by the
American/Saigon side.
Less than 500 Americans were tortured
by the NVA.
The nature of the American designed torture done according to the CIA manual was far worse than anything done to US pilots. Pilots who had committed major war crimes. Point of fact John McCain was NOT tortured he got their best
medical treatment. He did radio broadcasts and was their number one prison snitch. European journalists have researched this..
