  • Gonna Pop this in my cassette

  • Good sample from: Dominoes - Donald Byrd 1976

  • YO. DO you Think that the Will Smith thats making you smile and jam is the same Will Smith? He's moved on. Have you?

  • @Dactuck nah man, he's still the same

  • The beat goes hard even today

  • The Fresh Prince was Showing Mad Lyrics ..its their best Track

  • HIP HOP - Will could always flow. I really miss the diversity we use to have in HIP HOP.

  • will had good flow...

  • before he went commercial ...you know !!!!

  • awwwwe memories...

  • Fresh Prince sounds like the D.O.C. on this track. I wonder if he ghost wrote it? Go listen to "The Formula" after this song.

  • @soulbrotherlegendary I feel you, bro, but unfortunately, you and I both know (just like our days of youth), THOSE days are gone...The game has changed and morphed into something I no longer understand, let alone respect...It severely lacks creativity and originality... R.I.P. REAL hip-hop music and culture...

  • This has gotta be Will Smith/Fresh Prince's hardest song.

    Classic!

  • liove it this song bring back memories of fresh prince and his show

  • yo jeff! rock tha beat!

  • GET DOWN!!!

  • not a huge fan of Will's flow but he managed to create 2 of the most timeless classics...this one and Summertime will always be funky fresh, super dope, illy philly funk!!!

  • Saw them in 88 with Run DMC, Public Enemy and EPMD. You will never EVER see a concert like that again. Jazzy Jeff was maybe the sickest DJ to ever rip it up.

  • @sacarmyvet that's like the show i went to at Glam Slam in LA...Chuck D and Ice T introduce Bone Thugs' first performance....Biggie, Craig Mack, and the Fugees (who killed it, all taking turns playin instruments)....never again!!!....funny thing is i went mainly to ear Flavor In Your Ear....."turn your body into aftermatter"

  • 9 people are retarded this is THE SHIT

  • le coq sportif

  • I forgot Will had one song I really liked. Even he seems like..I made this... Jeff you made this shit?? Did we do this shit.

  • Dope as hell.

  • i swear i have tried, and tried and tried so many times but failed horribly 2 convince my friends that will smith was a good rapper. i think the reason why is because ppl kno him for his "bubble gum rap" songs like men in black, or getting jiggy with it or miami. will has put out sum great albums like homebase, he's the dj, im the rapper, and in this corner....and whtz crazii about it is that im only 18 and im sayin this! lol..but will doesnt get enuff props 4 his music career

  • Don't try to fake and act like Fresh Prince wasn't dope back in 88...this flow was new to a bunch of folks....LOL....

  • The Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeff at its second best....we all know what is the best song they made...

  • Happy 5th birthday to this video!

  • @050295 Summertime!!!

  • 1988!!!

  • yo i just remember everybody was rockin nefertiti rings and medallions and doin all those new jack dances remember watching these videos for the haircuts i kept a hair style called the 20th century with the public enemy sign in the back i rember i had a pair of lottos with the map of philly on it i rember shuttin the block down wit em man i miss those days

  • Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince went hard with this one!! I miss old school hip hop!!! When the rappers had talent not autotones and corny hooks & dances!!

  • Will is hip hop. Don't trip.

Kids today don't even understand the elements of hip hop.

  • One of the best Rappers of his day. Much better the thug/hard rappers of the last 10 years that sing mostly about sex and makin money.

  • I remember my Momz took me to this concert in Norfolk,VA which Public Enemy and Biz Markie were there and I was first introduce to real Hip Hop a landmark in my life!

  • nuffin like old school hip hop

  • One of the Best songs he made........

  • fuck anybody that dont respect will smith as a hip hop icon. he played a major part in the movement.

  • holy chit!!!. This brings back some old old old memories

  • One of the best songs by not only Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince but one of those hip hop classics that doesn't get enough attention, I still go ape shit whenever I hear that flow from Will beginning at the 2:13 mark...THAT SHIT GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS cuz i just love hip hop! When i was a kid I used to practice the dances to this song and played it so much i think it warped my tape, this and "Nightmare On My Street"...REAL HIP HOP

  • Hey rcd2c2 I agree with you 1000 percent

  • nice old skool

  • RIP Derek B...."Rock The Beat" made that boy is a legend..

  • Comment removed

  • they went hard on this one....both rappin and scratching

  • DJ Jazzy Jeff is playing at a mw2 tournament on 2/20/10

  • Fresh Prince > Soulja boy. the hell u talkin about fixtreme?

  • They best cut ..real talk. Anybody hating on the Fresh Prince don't know shit about rap. Plus Jazzy Jeff was so sick back then.

  • I was in elementary school when this dropped, 80's hip hop at it's best.. Good times for real..

  • @FIXTREME

    huh dude...Will could flow....

There is no one who knows hip hop that would say about Will and Jeff. They were/are just as much a part of hip hop.

Back then...we allowed all parts of hip hop to get out there. Now...its just shitty hop that gets airplay and we have to go back to underground to get real hip hop CULTURE.

Some folks don't even know the four elements of Hip Hop. The CULTURE is lost. Hood isn't Hip hop.

  • What, like New Jack Swing?

Thats as hip hop as I get (i <3 it); I hate rap. I don't think I can tolerate it anymore.

and yet the only thing that comes to mind with Will is the Family Guy sketch lmao

  • @FIXTREME HELL NAW

  • the guy, fresh prince has always been nice, but wasnt noticed cause he didnt cusee

  • Big Willies best song! The remix with peedi crack sucks!

  • Tightest song he ever made, no lie and the sample is absolutely SICK

  • The only song he ever made that was really worth a shit. A definate classic!!

  • not true, check out "hes the dj im the rapper"..and there are others

  • This is 1of these cats BEST tracks. serious. Prince' flow is ill will...

  • Wills flow on this track is sick! even though he was a mainstream bubblegum pop star....he still knew how to ride a beat and throw some catchy lines in there!!! God im glad to be born in the 80s!!! i feel bad for the kids that grew up in the 00's..lol

  • i saw him in concert with PE and RUN DMC, he got my attention as a great performer on stage! he is skilled!

  • I had no idea they made a video for this track. I think the video is pretty bad to be honest. I just like listening to the CD (or the tape, back in the day!!!)

  • jazzy jeff was one of the best dj,s ever!!! right up there with jam master j,terminator x etc...

  • He still is

  • i go insane everytime this song plays. song is too dope, man!

  • they are extremely ill. I knew it in 87 and I know it now.

  • Jazzy Jeff is a great DJ. People forget him since Will was a pop rapper, but he's great.

The scratching at 3:03 and then on is smooth.

  • I STILL BLAST THIS SONG !!!!

  • My personal fave from them

  • Mine too. I remember back in the day it was this a guy that the that had one of those little Jeep Samari's and had hella beat in it and was driving a party I was at and shaking the block with this song with the tarp rolled up on the back of the jeep.

  • I like this beat. I miss real hip-hop lil wayne fuck up hip-hop

  • i love this song

  • The World's Greatest Hip Hop Artist of all time by VH1 and fans and they are forever.

  • ???

  • i heard this song at 2 AM last night on SIRIUS Radio Old Skool Rap- Backspin

and love it. I'm 14 but i love old skool rap we need a new rapper makes a comeback with fresh rhymes we had back in the day not todays bull the only rapper who's okay now in days is Kanye West

  • Damn, isn't funny how white rappers make better music than black rappers? At least nowadays, since most, not all, black rappers today only talk about money bitches or the club. All of the innovation of the past, the hip hop golden age has been muddled by Crunk, Soulja Boy and rappers who could care less about intelligent and meaningful lyrics and the world in reality. How sad.

  • its not the rappers, its the fools that buy the music.

  • true!!!! if shit wouldn't sell like bread...shit wouldn't be made....

and i don't entirely agree with Josephjoel3...white rapaz don't make better rap music that black mc's...check the underground.. withe black even asian mc's or djs..producers make the dopest shit ever

  • I know where you're comin' from, BUT, since you say "white rappers" i.e. more than one...who, besides Eminem falls into that group?

  • mad true who other than Em falls into that category. Like the non black mc's tho they stay grounded. But its like that over seas too with ppl who are every colour. In the U.S. its just a tainted but hey, they invented it so its w/e.

  • This shit flows like no tomorrows... This is my favorite Jeff & Prince....

  • Don't sleep on the Ali impression. Who said the FP only rapped jokes and couldn't get funky.

  • This song kicks all types of ass! Alotta people thought Will was corny just because he never rhymed about killing anyone or seling dope to his own mother. Rappers these days should study Hip Hop music like this. Will and Jeff made classic music without rapping about fictional coke dealer stories.

  • This is Fresh Prince, not Will Smith. I Love it!

  • Will Smith is the bast artist ever! I have this song on a few different albums.

  • Will was snappin!

  • I forgot all about this song until I heard it on the radio the other night, Mr. Smith at his best.

  • Hip Hop heads wrote Will Smith off when the sitcom thing jumped off, but he had skills. As much as I don't like him, his career has been amazing... and his wife Jada Pinkett... even more reason to hate on him. DJ Jazzy Jeff one the illest DJs ever.

  • Yo, man. That shit is dope

  • i never thought that this song could get any better than it already was....this video version proved me way wrong.

  • hahaha

  • i have the strange urge to watch Fresh Prince of Bel Air :)

  • people seem to forget the will had skills

  • will smith was nice.

  • Type in Antwon LaCharm in the search box.

  • I saw them in concert many many years ago, and my ears still hurt they gave us an intense show, Jeff's transforming had me deaf. I went home and got bizzy on my 1200's. Man! that was the era for true skills that was Hip HOP, THIS crap is rompa room music i dont know how u can rank it into the same category as hip hop, that is like comparing The Hansons to Metallica!

  • now this song was type a butter kid. will had skills

  • This song is so sope Damn the beat and will smith is so cool man.

  • This is when Will Smith was dope

  • this hip hop

  • This video is dope. I remember before it came out I told folks that Fresh prince could dance, but no one believed me. All everyone remembers is the "dumb dancing". If you watch closely you'll see him dancing smooth. I actually remember learning that dance he did and did it a lot in the clubs, back in the day. (Yeah, on occasion I would "dumb dance", but that was only for friends and family!!)

  • jazzy jeff..... one of the greatest dj's to touch a pair of turntables.... will smith, aka the fresh prince.... done EVERYTHING right! shit! i remember buying "girls aint nothin but trouble" on 7" vinyl... im lying, i stole it, but anyway! they NEVER changed they format, NEVER changed who they were. ive been in to hip hop since about 1980.... i got NOTHIN but respect for these two guys! roll on the reunion album!

  • A reminder/proof that Will Smith (and Jazzy) were legit hip-hop, irrespective of what anyone's says or did say back in the day.

  • Actually...I been to alot of shows. The Fresh Prince had one of the best shows as well as Salt N Pepa and Public Enemy back in day.

  • old school hip hop!

  • i just rebought this album, after 20 years its still classic

  • Hahahaha this shit is "STILL" so ill.....

  • This song is a classic, it'll never go out of style. Go Jeff!!!!

  • I really hate it when Will is not given credit for his incredible talent as a pioneer in Hip-Hop. I grew up in Philly and I remember when this song came out. It exploded onto radio. It was one of the first songs in Hip-Hop to sample James Brown, but it also incorporated a hot beat that allowed kids to dance and have fun. These cats were simply incredible...and still remain one of the finest groups to emerge from Hip-Hop. Crazy respect to Jazzy Jeff for inventing Transforming!!

  • dj jazzy jeff and the fresh prince are the hype shit

  • yea baby

  • This video in this day and age is a MASSIVE treasure. It'd be like going back and watching them build the pyramids.

  • Word.

  • the beat raw..

  • jazzy jeff stil one of the GREATEST djs of all time

  • This and Summertime were his illest joints

  • hell yea

  • la coq sportiff! you were the stuff if you had one of those sweat suits

  • damn this was 20 years ago. will has come a long way and my ass is getting old.lol

  • IInnccrreddiibllee..

  • the PRINCE, READY ROCK AND JAZZY-CLASSIC TIME IN HIP HOP!

  • haa will breakin that shit down will is the king of philly ya heard

  • I thought The Peedi crack version was da original but My Cuz put me in my place quick. Listening to this songs makes one of the best in my book!

  • THIS 2 DEF FOR WORDS

  • Will must have done this for all the people who said he couldn't rap. Big Willie shut all those clowns up with this one.And Jeff was the sickest D.J. of all times.

  • The 80's were the bomb!!!! What happened?

  • Wil Smith is the KIng of Philly not Cassidy

  • haaaaaaaaaa blood that is the smartest comment i ever heard WILL smith came from philly and lived in philly long after and can still come back back to philly and he got 200times more money then cassidy or gilly will is the king of philly

  • Recognize my brother recognize

just because Will SMith is Hollywood doesn't mean he cant get down.

  • @Bloodsport1

Naw man you got that jacked my brotha....WAY jacked............

JUST because Prince is DOWN doesn't mean he can't fade Hollywood.

This is '88 nigga. Will is DOWN first and he's Hollywood SECOND.

LPs nigga I got LPs put on cassette. Tyson and Nightmare. All day long.

  • @D33veeoss that was my point man

  • @Bloodsport1 Yeah, I know, I was just putting the electricity to it to make it all seem real great and excellent.

  • man i love jam this what rap is all about

  • the good old days...

  • this was also filmed at nassau coliseum, in ny

  • This was one of the "HARDEST" songs they ever made, and I have it on my ipod.

  • jazzy jeff is one of the greatest producers in hip hop history. hands down.

  • This was the shit back in the day,and it still is...classic...Jay Z wishes he was this Def. :)

  • philly stand up

  • classic track

  • it was FUNKY

it made me want to GET GET DOWN

  • Pieces of this video was filmed in Rochester NY. The show was ill that night.

  • just incredible!

  • tight

  • so fucking under rated.. both of em first grammy winners right??

  • yeah "The Grammy's" didn't want to let the recieve their award so hip hip as a whole boycotted the "The Grammy's" Man, artist now need to stand up for each other like that. i'm 34 and I remember the Yo mTV raps special that they did. Yeah song was DOPE! took me back.
