I bought the Cape Wrath album, still got it at hand, after stumbling into The Cricketers to get out of the rain and the band was playing. Max Middleton on keys and Martin Drew on drums as a bonus. Great music R.I.P. Dick
Sorry just does not play out as right as "Lush Life". Compares as would a Bowery dive bar to the Plaza. Yes stands alone just fine. Great 80s like sound track gem.
I also remember seeing them many times at The Cricketers, although after this album (which I still have on vinyl BTW) was released. The pub was a great live venue and hosted some great jazz fusion bands such as Paz and Cayenne ... and also a very young Ruby Turner
Never heard this version and didn't know they released Cape Wrath. Jim does a version of Soul Eyes with his organ trio which is also worth a listen. Great stuff! Just found my copy of Badness on CD (after a 6 month search)...now I'd better be off to search for a copy of Cape Wrath. RIP Dick (what an amazing musician).
Thanks for this... it was my good fortune through friends, to meet Dick and Jim at the Bull's Head, many years ago, and enjoy a pint of Young's with the band, but more than that their music...live in the back room.
For me as a19 years old musician arriving in in London to seek my destiny, those MM half Moon gigs were so inspirational, it's probably the only time I've known being crammed in like sardines for a jazz ensemble, I so much would have liked to be one of the guys on stage!
To me, this track was an absolute cracker by M&M. In the early 80s I even had punk rockers asking me who this was. Catchy rhythm and gorgeous changes.

This was the sound of London in the early 80's. I used to ride the tube with M&M tunes ringing in my ears. Sadly missed DM

I found out this week that the intended closure of the Half Moon Putney, as a music venue, has been put on hold for another two years.

I used to see them at the Cricketers at the oval. They used to surprise me by throwing in a new cover, like Joe Samples many stops along the way.
