Great tune/video...Cathy Richardson has been one of my favorite musicians for the past three years (since i've had kids). She is a regular on the childrens' show "Jack's big music show" and also does the voice of Jack's mom. I was pleasantly surprised when i did a search on her. Some of the music/singing she does on that show is just amazing and when i heard she was with J.S. i thought "yep, she's perfect for that"...If you ever get the chance to see her do some scat, you're in for a treat
@CookOfTheHouse Yeah I was kidding, but this is the 1st time I have heard this Starship stuff from the early/mid 70's and it's pretty damn good. I was early teens and remember when they regained popularity with wind's of change etc, but was never that into it. With a lot of the bands that have been around, especially RUSH, I prefer their raw 70's sound to the more key board/techno sound that came into play in the early 80's. Yes & early Genesis are other bands that had talent.
@cowboysfan782008 I actually like the Jefferson Airplane Stuff and Jefferson Starship but only till the Earth LP, I can barely listen to the next albums!! If I want to listen to a 70's pop/rock band, I'd pick Wings, one of my favourites!
the guitar player trying to hard to copy Craig, Slick never copies Jorma, Craig or Jerry ( well perhaps a bit !) and that's why I like this band and it's not become a JA or JS tribute act, ( never did find out why Slick was not on this tour)
@Fireperv Slick's no longer in the biz. I saw an interview with her several years ago, saying that old people on stage playing rock music is a sad sight to see and she didn't want to be part of that. So, she quietly retired.
@AdamsApple1963 , I was refering to " Slick" Aguilar the guitarist who has been playing with Kantner since the KBC days and is still doing sterling work with Jefferson starship.
Cathy is amazing , but I think my fave version is a recording I've got with Diana, Darby and Linda Imperial singing this together now that is truly amazing !
i know john, the guitar player......wow......last time i saw starplain he was playing bass keys.....i like the new girl more than her predesessor because she seems to sing on key most the time.....paul, at this point, sounds like michael gira from the swans.
Amazing quality and sound, I love this vid! Cathy's commitment to the performance, compelling storytelling and incredible vocals are a major treat to behold.
get the fuck out of here. how dare anyone anywhere try to sing this song. this song is the soundtrack of the 70's and all things good and pure. (she's not half bad. but the music sucks)
Cathy blew the doors off the Maryland Theater in Hagerstown, Md. back in '07 w/ Big Bro/Hold Co. She's more than good, but Diana M. is by far the BEST femme singer in this musiczal entity! I say give her (Cathy) a chance with JS, but not the real deal by a long-shot.
this is a pretty amazing rendition. She has some gravelly moments which were never part of the song but the energy and passion for the music is definitely there. Sing it girl.
RESPECT!

Wow, she's got a very powerful voice - so, she doesn't exactly sound like Grace Slick but she's awesome, too.

damn. for some reason the words seem to make more sense now than they did when Grace used to sing this. Is it Cathy or is it the passing of time?

Time, but Cathy does a great job.

What happened to Diana Mangano? Still, this new singer has a very strong voice and does a good job.
Also, why don't they ever play normal places - like DENVER? Seems they're always playing London or San Francisco.
Hey, Kantner - you have fans all across the country - I saw Jack Casady a few weeks ago. You should follow him around.
