@alisonation i disagree in that i think the scene by itself is great, but with the knowledge that he is doing this to a woman who has just been married absolutely makes it completely creepy, quite lame and actually undermines the whole point of what the scene is supposed to be about to begin with and subsequently the movie as well; it would be man at his best if she were legally single cuz he'd be fighting for her, but it ends up being man at his worst cuz now it's an attempt to break a union

This is one of the top ten most beautiful love scenes. I love how he tells her how he feels, but doesn't expect anything, because he knows he can't. And then she kisses him simply and chastely, and at the end he's like, "Enough. That's enough." He's a good man. He knows when he's had his time. She will never be his. It's so sad! But I'm glad he doesn't try to break them up, etc. :)

I love this scene in this movie, but the truth is that its hard to initiate a relationship this way. This is one of those things you do for your sweetheart when you are already in a relationship.

Don't go for the dramatic move...go for the discreet move that will make her feel comfortable and safe with you...once she feels safe then the drama!

Yes, it's very poignant but come on people. Real love is not worshiping the ideal of someone from afar. He avoided her, barely even spoke to her, and yet he was madly in love with her? Maybe in a shallow emotional way. Eventually that kind of madness passes. If you don't know a person, flaws and all, and commit to being with them through thick and thin, then it's not real love.

For a romantic comedy, they should have brought these two together somehow - have her husband secretly dating someone else or something. She and Chiwetel Ejiofor had zero chemistry, especially during the wedding scene.

The same is true about the Laura Linney character and the hunky dude at her office she was in love with. They never did get together, which is depressing for a supposedly "happy ending" type movie.

I think she just needed to reassure herself about her feelings for her lover. When someone does a great romantic gesture like that or tells you that they love you unexpectedly sometimes you get caught up in the moment and lose yourself...you might even get confused and start to wonder if you share their feelings.
