man. i would totally trade my chinese for canto. i reeallllly want to learn it, but im not really good at picking up languages D: oh wait, but im not out of sch yet so i still need to speak mandarin. :(
hey i've had those before! actually i just had them the last time i went to a chinese restaurant..so good! but how on earth do you manage to pick them up with chopsticks without breaking them?? o_O
You shouldn't wash the rice with the rice cooker pot. It'll wear out the rice cooker pot faster. ;P if you cooked your rice with the same water you washed the rice with then you didn't really wash it!
You could do what they do in the restaurants and put a cabbage leaf to avoid puncturing the dumplings when you transfer them from the steamer tray to your plate
u dont have to put to rice in the rice cooker. you can just put water in and turn the rice cooker on :) anyway, I love your video, and I subscribed you!! haha have a good one!! :)
Siu Lung Baau! <33 I love it so much! I went out once with some of my friends and we went to go each some right? We had like six rounds (30pcs), and I got so sick of them for a while haha!
YEA..why do you need to cook rice as well? I thought he was gonna say..'plus you get the added bonusof having cooked rice for tonights dinner!' JUst use water to steam next time Carlos
totally ate that 小籠包 like a n00b :'( that's a really nifty rice cooker though! i hella miss hong kong ... gong cha, tim ho wan, the awesomely efficient mtr system, 7/11s on every corner ... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Thank you for the tutorial. That's the way that I eat mine! You might want to do a follow up video with instructions on how to eat them because I've seen many people stick the whole thing in their mouth (OUCH!) or puncture the dumpling, losing all that delicious pork goodness. Your mom must be so proud. Your pronunciation is much better than mine. I have the vocabulary, but I sound like a jook sing. =(
@TheNekko888 ok, you pick it up at the side of the bun with the chopsticks, hold it over a spoon just in case it rips, bite a bit of the skin, drink the soup inside, then eat it. That is how my mom showed me and she is canto, i guess you can just eat it but it definitely might burn your tongue and you won't be able to drink the soup by itself because the whole hype about xiao long bao (in mando) is the soup inside :D
u can just steam it normally in a metal pan, with water and you put a small stand in it to keep it out of the water. the rice is optional. You can dip it in soy sauce and fresh ginger strips(really tiny strips).
can't you help me brush up on my cantonese. as in personal tutor.
i have my relatives and boyfriend's parents i need to impress. and also the hongkong/native speakers that go to my school i would like to just randomly talk to so that they can quit calling me "white girl" or "american girl" and stuff.
@hollaWHATsophia Embrace the names they call you! There is no point getting all but hurt every time someone calls you a name relating to your race, just laugh it off. [if they're bullying you then don't bothing being their friends anyway]
I made myself a t-shirt that says 'no one knows I'm white' [in Chinese] and other various things like that. Just roll with it.
I always burn my tongue when I eat those cause I wanna eat them fresh, but then it's so hot that it's just spews into my mouth and I end up spitting it out. >=(
@GoApples Next time, pick it up w/ the chopstick, place it on a spoon, use your front teeth to bite open the skin, slowly suck the juice out, blow on it, then take a bigger bite. :)
@GoApples Next time, pick it up w/ the chopstick, place it on a spoon, use your front teeth to bite open the skin, slowly suck the juice out, blow on it, then take a bigger bite. :)
I thought you are supposed to steam it on some cabbage or lettuce leaves so it doesn't stick to the steamer. Yours almost broke open when you tried to take them out of the steamer because they were too sticky.
lmao, i'm suppose to speak cantonese in the house but i hang around with too many Caucasian people and spoke english a lot causing me to forget the language...T_T the fact that you speak it better than me puts me to shame! lol
Love your channel - but two corrections on this one. The dumplings have "soup" inside, not "juice," and to make them correctly, put the dumplings in the steamer on a slice of carrot to keep them from sticking to the bottom of the steamer plate.
