It appears yet ANOTHER "dark, twisted" film about gayness... when will the industry realize that being gay is as normal and common as being straight. Oh, I forgot: that would not "sell." As much as some film makers think they are supporting the gay community, so many still portray gayness as "tortuous" and "dark" because there is a macabre fascination with homosexuality among straight people. How about a comedy or drama (or even sci-fi) with gays that does center on self-hatred and dark themes?

@steamspider I agree. These types of movies, which may appeal to a select few of the gay community and of course, the closet cases, gives the gay community a bad name. I shit y'all not: The X men trilogy was actually based on gays (the mutants) fighting for acceptance in a ''homophobic'' world. I'd rather have movies like that over this.

@steamspider As much as I can understand your frustration certain topics and twists are repeated endlessly in gay themed movies - and also see where you are coming from here, since this appears very similar to David DeCoteaus gay slasher movies - it is also a fact, for a movie to have a watchable story, there have to be some sort of drama. Heavy or light, complicated or straight forward - but a drama non-the-less.And with the success of DeCoteau and similar, it isn`t strange they are "copied."
