@photolitherland - Given his ticket sales I wholly disagree but I do agree that talking about him 24/7 for like a month on so-called political news shows was pretty over-the-top. But the same probably happened with Elvis back in the day first few weeks after he died.
BBC News! Yay! It is a hell of a lot less biased and racist and patronising and money-grabbing and homophobic and overly-christian and....etc. than most news channels.
Just because MSNBC is "The Place For Politics" doesn't mean they can't cover other news also. MSNBC is the official cable network and website for NBC News, after all. And Michael Jackson meant a whole lot to many people, including myself.
I pay 120 euro a month for healthcare. When I'm billed by a dentist for a procedure, I send that bill to the company that offers the healthcare and then they pay a part of that bill. We have various packages that includes various procedurs, ranging from dental to death threatening diseases. Monthly prescriptions are pretty much covered and treatment in the hospital is something I'm not aware of, since I haven't dealt with the healthcare system that much.
You have a point NBC should cover this not MSNBC, this was not about him being found dead but about some Jackson family doings. WTF, MSNBC is for politics. I love MJ but damn. Helath Care vs a family who could buy Cuba, which is more important....
No? I still read about Jackson every single day when I open the paper (three of them at work that I read on my breaks, all with similar info on him), and hear about it on the news. I'm sick of hearing about that scumbag already.
His death being reported CONSTANTLY from the majority of news sources is a waste of time, and honestly not even worthy of news. Perhaps a mention or something, but no more. And Coctopus's point here was that MJ's death is more important to Americans t han their own troops battle in Afghanistan. I think that point was very clear, no need for your post essentially. Who cares if people care about pop culture? It isn't news. Get over it.
they should run pop culture stories on NBC, not MSNBC or something...its the use of the motto combined with the total lack of respect they actually have for political news...I liked MJ's old stuff, but everyone dies, and i don't need to know any stupid details about tit a month later.
A little *respect* please.... for one of the half dozen or so really quality people we have in the U.S. Senate: the great Bernie Sanders, the junior Senator from Vermont, who is also the only socialist in the Senate.

BBC is far from perfect reporting, there is bias and some shoddy dishonest journalism considering the Iran protests, but it is a lot more balanced than most American news channels. More balanced than most British ones too. Still haven't found a mainstream TV news source I feel I can trust, but I guess that's why we should all research the headlines we hear about.
I do agree that healthcare and Afghanistan are more important that MJ BUT...
I dont blame MSNBC for booting the Congressman because, frankly, the American people want to hear about MJ. MSNBC is in it for rating and programs that cover MJ get ratings - thats a fact!
You da man Prime! But remember that they're in it for ratings and money, not necessarily to cover important topics like politics.
I have temporarily converted my profile to fight for health care reform. Not only can you find information regarding the public health care option. But I have also compiled a list of the dems who are possibly opposing this along with their phone numbers. I have also included other ways in which you can contact your representatives. The media has become a 3 ring circus. Mostly because Rupert Murdoch owns the majority of it.
The MSNBC guy did at least make 1 good point - you can't count on Joe Libermann on meaningful health care reform.
In recent years Joe Liberman has received over $6 MILLION...yes, that's $6 MILLION...from the health care industry.
THE HEALTH CARE COMPANIES OWN...TOTALLY OWN...JOE LIBERMAN.
No way will Joe Liberman vote for any Health Care bill that has the public option in it thou he may give all kinds of other bogus excuses for opposing it.
the bat crap crazy are flipping out...the majority wants a public option...76%...if they don't do it it will cost the Dems in 2010...they should be listening to Dr Dean
I ask this of all who want a "public option", do you want the same gov't who has bankrupted social security & medicare and has destroyed the educational system to manage your healthcare?
OOooOOOOoOoh, be afwaid of the big bad govewment. Canada's got both. You can pay for better quality and prestige at a private practice or pay just taxes and get service that's at least up to standards from a Pinko Commie Godless Clinic From The Government Which Is Evil 'Cause It's The Government Which Makes It Evil Evil Clinic.

Sometimes they butt in anyway, leaving sentences unfinished.
i was tired of the mj stuff for awhile now and it's still going.
that's part of the problem with this country these days people care more about shit like michael jackson or the latest american idol sendoff than they do about things that actually affect themselves and thier lives. talk about your head being stuck in a nether region.....
Senator Bernie Sanders - did the right thing and said he could not answer a complex question like that in a few seconds - on the most stupid knee-jerk Senator could answer that one in five seconds. Bernie Sanders deserves to have a long interview not this sort of thing.
Please everyone call your reps at least once a month to insist on HR676, but last call both my senators' office gave me a COLD reaction when I asked that we develope an exit plan for Afgh.
MJ's death was a tragedy. But you're right: LET IT THE FUCK GO. Sorry. I have more important things to think about than MJ. Jesus Christ. Fox "news" lost a shit load of ratings because of them talking about MJ, so now MSNBC is going to do the same shit?
I was so afraid that you were gonna rip on Bernie Sanders for a minute there.
I grew up in the town where Bernie was mayor for many, many years, long before he became a Representative, and the subsequently a Senator. Hell, I've rented him videos back when I had a job in high school!
So...I'm just glad he wasn't your target. Just sayin'. :)
TV gave up on news a long time ago. Faux is just not serious at all, purely a propaganda channel with a hint of something that resembles news occasionally. The rest of them just gave up on real news and became the tabloid channels.
That man he was interviewing is Bernie Sanders. He's probably one of the 5 honest congressmen that I know of. He is a socialist, not a communist, a democratic socialist. The fact that they didn't play Bernie Sanders questioning Ben Bernake on TV more astounded me because it was amazing to watch. Bernie Sanders is the man.
That's about right, too. iT'S about what people want to hear about. More want to know about MJ's fortune than about health care reform. I'm on the other side, because I'm at the age where health care matters.
That was some bullshit by MSNBC. I can't stand it when any news network pulls that kind of shit. The nerve of some of this so called news people Ask a hard hitting question and only give the guy 10 secs to reply to it. Talk about having no time to get out what he has to say about. That was flat out bullshit by MSNBC.
Great, great analysis. That's the problem with commercial driven TV: it's about wrapping the news around what's really important, advertisements. And given that we are conditioned (thanks to tv!) to have low-attention spans, they only want sound-bite answers to complex issues. And everyone ( fox, cnn, msnbc, etc.) is guilty of this...
I think this is a bit nit picky... They have limited time on the teleprompter. ALL advertising based T.V. News is going to have these problems. As long as they are on a stringent time limit they have to make time for the people that they pay.
Do you really expect them to go "Well we spent time and effort in order to prepare this story, but we're going to keep this conversation going for an undecided amount of time"
The internet is better for REAL meaningful debates and discussions. Like Podcas
I expect news organizations to do what they've always done.
I mean how long did you expect them to do a segment with 1 person? Shows like Bill Maher can get away with doing an entire show discussing things with 1 person, but the American attention span is only so long. If they see that cutting off a political discussion for a pop culture icon is going to give a ratings boost they'll do it.
As a parallel it's like you're expecting a CEO that ruined a company to step down without a bonus...
It's mildly depressing that it has to be that way. I don't know how one could fix such a thing outside of having a general population that isnt almost retarded.
There's a reason I don't have TV anymore. All of television has pissed me off, not just the news, but yeah... BBC is teh best by far, but television news as a whole is a waste of my time. Internet is my new drug.
The only thing I use my TV for is to hook it up to my VCR so I can watch my Jackie Chan collection.
I sort of appreciate that Senator Sanders has the honesty to say that it's a complicated issue that can't be explained in only a few seconds. I think that most politicians would just let the bullshit fly if they were in the same situation.
I thought they gave Sanders a decent amount of time to elaborate on his position on health care reform.
Remember the closing question was an inexplicable redirection of the interview to the topic of Afghanistan. Which yeah was pretty dumb to do in the last few seconds but at least they had someone on who did'nt talk about public health care like it is the death nail in the coffin of all things "American".
On the other hand the words "Michael Jackson" should'nt even be uttered on MSNBC.
C0ct0pus Prime,, The corporate media is the downfall to American Society. MSNBC, FOX, ABC, BBC, CBS, CNBC, CCBC, CBCB,BBBCCCC! FUCK THEM ALL!
The corporate politicians are in the back-pocket of the main stream media and the two along with our government is why we are a society that seeks to engage in tit for tat, I'm better then you, my way is the only way, judging others, pointing fingers, ridicule, confrontation, etc etc etc!
We should be ashamed for being manipulated by billionares
Msnbc don't mess up as bad as fox. Lately i have found the BBC are very biased. Only 3 weeks ago on a news programme they compared the prime minister and his cabinet to a bunch of rats on the titanic. they then depicted the female cabinet members as spice girls with uzi's, southpark style. Had to check i was watching the bbc lol. How ever our prime minister is very very unpopular he does not have a snowballs chance in hell of re-election.
We r pretty lucky over here generally though, with the lack of bias in the main news channels. It is pretty rare to find any on bbc, itv n C4 news I'd say. Shame our newspapers arent the same...fucking Sun n Daily Mail *pukes*
The daily mail is a right wing paper and they often hightlight the bbc as leftwing. And as for the sun newspaper, well they are owned by the the same guy who owns fox news and the only good thing in the whole damn paper is page 3 ;-).
yeah lol. sorry i did mean to agree with you earlier it is usually rare on tv, OFCOM can be pretty mean with the fines if you get caught. Hence sky news also owned by murdoch can not be like fox news. If America had Ofcom, damn Coctopus would be bored lol
Sky new is still a bit shit, even with OFCOM keeping BS low. They covered jackson's death WAY to much. BBC at least split attention between that and china riots and brit troop deaths etc.
I agree completely. Michael Jackson himself cared more about helping other people than his own personal well-being. He literally spent himself into debt partially because of philanthropy.
"Let's move on to health care reform so the rest of us don't fucking die."
Fuck yes, exactly. I rarely watch TV news because of this sort of bullshit, where they focus 80% of the time on one inconsequential story / stupid shit instead of what actually matters. But unfortunately, the public DOES care more about Michael fucking Jackson than health care reform.
I fail to understand why entertainment takes precedence over important life-altering politics. Especially dead entertainment. Maybe they're keeping MJ's brain alive in a jar for a robot body to make the Moonwalker movie come true.
I can tolerate MSNBC (don't love the channel all that much), but there's a time where the death of a celeb has to stop being covered.
I can understand how news anchors feel about losing one of their favorite celebrities dating back to their childhood, but in all honesty, they took this too far.
ok, but it's not about what you'd rather hear about...the MJ story should be on E!, and MSNBC should actually follow their motto and stick to politics (or at least not boot a politician to cover pop culture).
Heallth care is more important than fucking Micheal Jackson bullshit. Fuck these celeberties and health care is more important and effects us not MJ!!
all the media are controlled and soon they will take over the internet as well so stand up and fucking say some shit about it. and turn off the fucking tv. unless your watching to study and expose the shit.

We r pretty lucky over here generally though, with the lack of bias in the main news channels. It is pretty rare to find any on bbc, itv n C4 news I'd say. Shame our newspapers arent the same...fucking Sun n Daily Mail *pukes*
nomis101uk 2 years ago
The daily mail is a right wing paper and they often hightlight the bbc as leftwing. And as for the sun newspaper, well they are owned by the the same guy who owns fox news and the only good thing in the whole damn paper is page 3 ;-).
Brit6675 2 years ago
lol yeah. but 10 seconds on google and u can get much better! Damn Rupert Murdock...when will he die? lol
nomis101uk 2 years ago
yeah lol. sorry i did mean to agree with you earlier it is usually rare on tv, OFCOM can be pretty mean with the fines if you get caught. Hence sky news also owned by murdoch can not be like fox news. If America had Ofcom, damn Coctopus would be bored lol
Brit6675 2 years ago
Sky new is still a bit shit, even with OFCOM keeping BS low. They covered jackson's death WAY to much. BBC at least split attention between that and china riots and brit troop deaths etc.
MrDanJC 2 years ago
Michael Jackson himself would care more about health care for people than bullshit news coverage over his death.
Dislekseyuh 2 years ago 10
I agree completely. Michael Jackson himself cared more about helping other people than his own personal well-being. He literally spent himself into debt partially because of philanthropy.
A86 2 years ago
"Let's move on to health care reform so the rest of us don't fucking die."
Fuck yes, exactly. I rarely watch TV news because of this sort of bullshit, where they focus 80% of the time on one inconsequential story / stupid shit instead of what actually matters. But unfortunately, the public DOES care more about Michael fucking Jackson than health care reform.

great that your calling them out but that doesn't seem like that big a deal as opposed to active disinformation, yelling, and cutting off mikes

Your Media pick sides in the game,
Dont hate the player hate the game.
and being from europe I can tell you, its almost a pattern, we have to follow. when US does it, then the media here have to do that.
The press in europe cover Michael Jackson all the time...
Leave the poor mans family alone its my statement.

I'm still in shick over the pussyfooting comment.

I fail to understand why entertainment takes precedence over important life-altering politics. Especially dead entertainment. Maybe they're keeping MJ's brain alive in a jar for a robot body to make the Moonwalker movie come true.

I think people who are so much into stories like the one about Michael Jackson don't watch MSNBC in the first place, they watch MTV.
Great video.
DeletedDelusion 2 years ago 3
I wouldn't be surprised. MSNBC, with those MJ stories, is starting to show a little MTV in them.

"Underinsured" is bullshit terminology.

Pussyfooting? Hey that wasn't one of the 227 words you can't say on youtube.
Everyone is trying to milk a story out of MJ's death for all of it's worth. This shit better stop soon.

Michael Jackson was dead, but he rose on the third day and will come again to judge the living and the dead. He died for all of us!

I can tolerate MSNBC (don't love the channel all that much), but there's a time where the death of a celeb has to stop being covered.
I can understand how news anchors feel about losing one of their favorite celebrities dating back to their childhood, but in all honesty, they took this too far.
Oldskoolkammy 2 years ago 2
Be careful the BBC is pretty screwed up too. I like your hat by the way.
IndiMusicLover 2 years ago
this is fukin bull shit. LET IT GO. 20 years later. this just in, michael jackson is still dead.
shazta88 2 years ago
ok, but it's not about what you'd rather hear about...the MJ story should be on E!, and MSNBC should actually follow their motto and stick to politics (or at least not boot a politician to cover pop culture).
C0ct0pusPrime 2 years ago
leave it to the tabloids , national enquirer, CNN . lol good point man
