  • Chris Curtis R.I.P

    Great vocals!

  • I thougt that the searchers were a great band...but when I heard this song on a bacharach tribute I was smashed... I can't explain...

  • The 'SMASH HIT' that never was, but most certainly would have been, had it been released as a single. One of Chris Curtis' finest vocal performances. Vastly underated !

  • @Chris CurtisFan : after 40 Yrs Cheri, "THIS EMPTY PLACE" remains NO. 1 in my Fave Searchers Tracks !!

  • Just re-visiting one of my favorite tunes lead vocal by the late, great Chris Curtis. He was a master at changing octaves. I'm running this as lead video on my CCF channel! Thank you, KT for the upload!

  • @CrummyCurtis amen

  • A great song, to be sure. And in fact, I consider Dionne Warwick's version of it to be the VERY BEST song she ever recorded.

  • The best Burt Bacharach cover ever & I mean it, Amanda Cerasale

  • which one in the picture is chris curtis? .... and ... when and what did he die from? ... i always liked the searchers ... wished they would have kept making songs for long after their first big run.

  • @frizzlefrap Come over to my channel and you'll see a lot of Chris Curtis! He passed away in 2005, he was only 63. He had so much talent and a totally beautiful soul! RIP, Dear Chris.

  • I wish they would do some of these lovely old songs in their concerts these days!!!!

  • this songs was haunting me whole day, finally had to come and listen :P

  • This will always be my fave Searchers song, since Chris, singing it, had the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. RIP Chris. Thanks, ktoop, for posting it and keeping Chris talent alive!

  • I completely agree CCF, it could, and should have been a single, my fave Searchers song ever !!

  • A Tony Hatch song I believe. Often referred to as the 5th member of the band

  • hello, this is not a Tony Hatch song. It was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

  • No it`s a Burt Bacharach song from the

    "It`s The Searchers" Album 1964

  • @guesser7

No it`s a Burt Bacharach song

  • Hi tt, i spent some time working on the guitar chords. They are as follows: Amin, Amaj, Dm7, Fmaj, Faug, F6, F7, Bb, Bbaug, Bb6, E7, Dmin, E7, back to Amin. Just play them till you can sing along. Hope this helps ! Gazzymodo.

  • Great! I'll give them a try. Thanks.

  • This is Chris Curtis's finest performance with the Searchers. A brilliant 'Bacharach/David' composition. Check out the Fortunes version, it too is excellent, lots of vocal harmony & good arrangement !

  • Cilla did a great version of this too.

  • She certainly did. It does not appear on You Tube (yet) though. Anyone help?

  • I like this better than the original. Dionne Warwick's version is underproduced. This one has some oomph to it.

  • so soulful!

  • I've not heard this song for many years! Who is singing the lead on it?
