  • woah that's some old stuff! How fast was that Amtrak going, because those F40s were capable of doing 100 mph. Were they allowed to go that fast here?

  • @trinityct This was before the big accident at Back Bay. I think they slowed the trains down after that. They used to fly thru Readville.

  • @PKingman So that means, yes they were doing 100 mph? Although the MBTA train rear-ended the Amtrak train, so why did they slow down the speeds for Amtrak?? To me it doesn't quite make sense.

  • @trinityct It was an Amtrak train that hit the back of an MBTA commuter train. The MBTA train was stopped. It's engine was on the back. That fact saved lives. The Amtrak train was doing about 50 mph when it hit.

  • @trinityct I have no way of knowing exactly how fast the trains in my videos are going. Maybe I should get a radar gun. After the accident at Back Bay authorities slowed the inbound Amtrak trains starting somewhere outside the inner city limits. Not sure where.

  • @PKingman Looks like 80 mph to so I'd have to guess, no. I think the Amtrak trains slow down a little further inbound after forest grove.

  • did they have the acela back then?

  • @radanju2 No.
