Loved the video Karla. Your style of drawing/painting is unique, even though you used the undo button a lot. It just goes to show how much value you put on every line that you place on your canvas.
I know this is an old video, but for new viewers, that "something" that attracts your eye is contrast. Contrast (in color, value, or even shape) is one of the most effective ways to draw attention.
One thing puzzles me in many SketchbookPro videos: at the beginning when defining the rough shape of the hairdryer, you continue to draw curves and erase, in a sort of (silly IMO) attempt to end up with a "nice" curve by sheer chance or luck... Why not do it "the old way" and draw many light curved lines to tweak the overall impression of the curve and then "ink" with a stronger style only the curve you "like" most?
@zpaolo the quality of art is defined by the surety of its line. She wants a confident strong look. It is not as much luck as you think...For instance...Who writes an amazing song in one take?
Wonderful tutorial; beautiful curves; your expertise in placing the curves, light and shadows makes it look so easy :)
Darius the clue to the software used is in the title of the clip: Sketchbook pro by Autodesk.
The layers are created by adding a new layer, by selecting new layer from the palette. Place your sketch on the top layer and paint on a separate layer underneath the original sketch; that way you don't erase your sketch guidelines.
I would appreciate if you answered this question. Do you use a sketchpad or a mouse?
