I think borealis was evacuation ship. He was yelling to help, possibly addressing to Mr. Johnson, ("Help me Uncle Johnson!") but then there was someone else, possibly his son or his relative, maybe nephew. He needed to do something and he wasnt able to get to the ship. He said that this little boy must leave without him, and after he leaved him, he started sobbing. ("Brave little boy, brave little man...") You can hear him crying that he werent able to get to the ship. ("The bridge is gone...")
@MrModFag I can't hear it when played at its regular speed, but it's crystal clear in slow-motion. Regardless, I agree with you, and it makes more sense in this context, what with the repeated mentions of 'John'.
The implications of Rattman and Chell's relation are much more interesting when you think about all of this..
