u should stop taking jack 3d because the same company that manufactures Dimethylamylamine(DMAA) which is what soldiers in the army take to help with the workout has caused two soldiers to have an heart attack because there was a test done and the found DMAA in their blood stream and that product has been declared not fit for human consumption / i heard that some of the ingredients are in jack 3d im just telling u this because i love u and u gave me the inspiration to buy p90x. its your choice

I weigh 168 now, did weigh 189. I have a pooch and love handles. So when I look down I see the fat, I hate!. I do p90x. What supplements should I use and when should I use them? @hehehaha51 No. Not til you are 18. You could probably get away with creatine and shakeology, but a lot of that stuff can mess with growth cycles. Others might be more help, but I'd google and check on safe supplements for teens. Good luck man.
hey coach wayne, i have a question for you. do you take casein before going to bed? since of course its a slow digestive protein that doesnt let your body feed off itself.
@ivanhoo25 You can take both Shakeology and whey protein at any time of the day (they aren't dependent on the time of day that you workout). But you do need to be sure that you are getting a steady flow of protein throughout your day, so it makes sense to use your whey protein at a time when you aren't getting a lot of protein from food (like at a snack, for instance). I just take a generic Vit D from walmart.
hey coach wayne, i have the results and recovery formula as well as the pure creatine and i found out that the r and r formula has 500mg of creatine monohydrate in it per serving. So my question is, should i still take the 10 grams of creatine a day even if i am taking the r and r formula ???

For my Whey (Protein) Protein Shakes... I make a half pot of coffee. Then, I freeze it in ice cube trays. (I make the coffee a bit strong. Because 1 cup of coffee is only going to make 1 tray of cubes) Then, when I blend the shake I add a bit of Plain, Fat Free Yogurt and Fat Free Milk. Sometimes I use Flavored Coffee (hazelnut, vanilla). It is REALLY GOOD!!!! It's a good way to get my breakfast and coffee at the same time, too. : )
For the Creatine, Have you thought of making a batch of Kool-Aide (or other fruit flavored drink mix) And NOT adding (or adding just a little) sugar to it... and using that to mix with your Creatine? If anyone has... let me know what you think.
Hello, Im a college student and don't exactly have the money to afford all of these supplements. I am going to buy a protien powder but that's about it. If i do my best with the nutrition plan and take protien will I still see great results from p90x?
@mcsimmonds817 Come read my article "why supplement". You can still get great results but you have to understand what supplements do for you and what to expect without them.
I'm staring P90X on Monday and have Shakeology and R+R Formula, would you suggest using glutamine and creatine or will the two above be okay to start with.
I thought maybe just add little Whey to the shakeology maybe.
@bollybaz You don't need the glutamine and creatine. They are fun extras but not nearly as important as some whey, shakeology, and R/R formula. You are good to go!
@Disneyu I'm experimenting with a maintenance plan requiring very little supplements (see my article "simple plan" on my website for more on that), but yes I highly recommend creatine and glutamine.

Hi guys, I am doing P90X too, i just use p90x recovery drink, but it is not very strong,i am wondering what i should use to see bigger results. @Throzen91 Your friend may have been using a mass gainer. Don't know! But the recovery drink is perfect for post workout. You don't need anything "stronger" than that!
I love that you stack the vitamins and and take the same ones that I do (including Lecithin and Selenium) at the same time of day. I've just started adding protein powder and supplements...I needed some advice that I got here. It looks like I'm on track, but I've got ON Platinum Hydro Whey and then after that changing to PMD Amplify XL along with NDS Cardio Cuts. @Ectomorph1981 I eat THREE THOUSAND calories per day! I eat 6 times per day! That's the best part of working hard at a program like this -- you train your body to be a calorie burning machine. I get to eat tons of healthy food, feel great, and not load my body down with junk and greasy garbage like most in our country have decided is "normal".

@tantheman03 Actually creatine has been carefully researched for over 2 decades, and it is NOTHING like anabolic steroids. Creatine is actually in all kinds of foods we eat (like red meat). Supplementation is just to get a higher quantity of it for the benefits without having to eat 5 lbs of red meat per day! And I'm sorry your friend got breast cancer but I can safely guarantee it had nothing to do with creatine! That's why creatine is approved for use by athletes of all ages, even teens.
@Skydivingkittens Several pre-workouts have 1,3 dimethylamylamine, which will trigger false positives on some tests, so yes be careful or choose a preworkout without that ingredient if you are concerned.

@0ptim3 You need to hit your target daily protein intake whether you are lifting or doing cardio (read the article on my website called "protein review" for more). I prefer the creatine post-workout mixed with my recovery drink.

I am 35, and have been back in the gym for over a month in preparation for p90x. In that time I have lost 20lbs. I want to lose 60 more. My question is if I am looking to strip weight, should I be taking protein and other supps like creatine and glutamine?
@UFOFrenzy All my supps run about $220 per month. That was when I was trying to make big changes. Now that I'm maintaining, I use far less (like you are saying, I don't want to be on some of these for life). Now I'm just using whey protein, shakeology, and a recovery drink.

@yogi83 I lift at 5:15 am myself. I take a scoop of whey in water when I first wake up at 4:30, then my preworkout at about 5. Then I start working out at 5:15.
I work out in th evenings and am about to start Insanity. What is the best pre-workout that will get me pumped but subside fast enough to allow me to sleep well at night? I work out at 5:30 or 6 and go to sleep around 11.
@kicksit1980 You are going to have trouble taking a pre-workout before an evening workout. You'll either need to workout earlier in the day or not take a pre-workout. They will keep you up because they have a big dose of caffeine.
@nolandubya in terms of free weights, i noticed that you had the bowflex adjustable set which would be ideal but what would you recommend if you had to select a certain weight to use for the program. i can curl 40s for 5 but i'm assuming there is much more repitition in p90x. Therefore, would i be better off purchasing a set of 25 or 30s? i also have a resistance band that I could substitute in for some of the workouts. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
@MrTodd427 The exercises vary so much that I use everything from 10 lbs to 55 lbs. It will be very hard to use just one weight for everything -- half the time it will be so easy that you won't get any benefit and half the time it will be too hard to even be able to do with proper form. You at least need a few sizes - 10, 20, and 30 for starters.
@MegaNate26 I take my shakeology in the AM with a scoop of whey in it, and then I take another scoop of whey mid-day and a scoop between dinner and bedtime. (3 scoops total per day).
@SimonRita25 My wife sticks to Shakeology and Results/Recovery formula. That's it. She doesn't take the extra stuff that I do. And she's done great using Chalean Extreme for a workout (less intense than P90X but it works great!).
@qajaar Since BB doesn't ship to England ... YET ... you'll have to order a recovery drink online. Look for one with protein, good carbs, electrolytes, and minerals.

Hello coach, I just received the P90X program and I’ve watched countless videos these last couple of days about P90X and the best supplements to go with it, but I’m not quite sure WHEN exactly to take these supplements. I’ve heard about taking a the pre and post workout shakes, also to take one for breakfast, and one before going to bed, etc etc. So if you could shed some light here on the “right time” to take these shakes I’d appreciate it. For the Creatine, Have you thought of making a batch of Kool-Aide (or other fruit flavored drink mix) And NOT adding (or adding just a little) sugar to it... and using that to mix with your Creatine? If anyone has... let me know what you think.

Hello, Im a college student and don't exactly have the money to afford all of these supplements. I am going to buy a protien powder but that's about it. If i do my best with the nutrition plan and take protien will I still see great results from p90x?

I'm staring P90X on Monday and have Shakeology and R+R Formula, would you suggest using glutamine and creatine or will the two above be okay to start with.
I thought maybe just add little Whey to the shakeology maybe.

@bollybaz You don't need the glutamine and creatine. They are fun extras but not nearly as important as some whey, shakeology, and R/R formula. You are good to go!

Hi guys, I am doing P90X too, i just use p90x recovery drink, but it is not very strong,i am wondering what i should use to see bigger results. I am just worry about creatine and protein shake, because my friend used some kind protein shake and the problem was that he gained alot of fat in his body or maybe its water, he became like ball, so what do u think guys ?

@Throzen91 Your friend may have been using a mass gainer. Don't know! But the recovery drink is perfect for post workout. You don't need anything "stronger" than that!

I love that you stack the vitamins and and take the same ones that I do (including Lecithin and Selenium) at the same time of day. I've just started adding protein powder and supplements...I needed some advice that I got here. It looks like I'm on track, but I've got ON Platinum Hydro Whey and then after that changing to PMD Amplify XL along with NDS Cardio Cuts. I just spent the money at GNC for my new stuff, but will have to check out the ones you've been using. Thanks for the help!

Hey coach wayne, ive been doing p90x for about 5 months. lost over 40+ lbs and have done alot. im currently bulking up now. i noticed i take the same whey protein you take,amplified wheybolic extreme 60. i also noticed you have 100% ON whey protein. my question is, which protein do you like better between ON's and GNC amps? ive read the labels and facts. i really like Amplified wheybolic extreme and it really helps me pump through the workout when i take it before the workout and recover after.

@Ectomorph1981 I eat THREE THOUSAND calories per day! I eat 6 times per day! That's the best part of working hard at a program like this -- you train your body to be a calorie burning machine. I get to eat tons of healthy food, feel great, and not load my body down with junk and greasy garbage like most in our country have decided is "normal".

If not what did you take? because i heard that you shouldnt take creatine while cutting because it will make you bloated.

hey man i was really inspired by your story so i did p90x. im 16 and it worked great. i was fat now im fit. thankyou so much. i used no supplements and just followed nutrition. but hey! when i saw this video i was shocked. i have a friend who took creatine and he got some kind of breast cancer. yesguys get it too. Creatine, so i was told, is almost exactly like anabolic steroids!!! lots of side affects. so im just saying you just might wanna get checked or do some researching for yourself. sory

@tantheman03 Actually creatine has been carefully researched for over 2 decades, and it is NOTHING like anabolic steroids. Creatine is actually in all kinds of foods we eat (like red meat). Supplementation is just to get a higher quantity of it for the benefits without having to eat 5 lbs of red meat per day! And I'm sorry your friend got breast cancer but I can safely guarantee it had nothing to do with creatine! That's why creatine is approved for use by athletes of all ages, even teens.

@Skydivingkittens Several pre-workouts have 1,3 dimethylamylamine, which will trigger false positives on some tests, so yes be careful or choose a preworkout without that ingredient if you are concerned.

I'm a 16 year old 6'0 140" male who has always had a high metabolism. I am very skinny and lean. How can I get bulky and develop bigger arms and a bigger body in general? I just finished day 2 of P90X with my friend and I want to know the exact supplements and nutrition i should take for becoming bigger. Should I be taking 2 whey protein shakes a day, even on days when I am not lifting and just doing cardio. The creatine, you take it twice a day in the morning and in the evening, do you reccomend taking it befre or after a work out, of does that even matter?

@0ptim3 You need to hit your target daily protein intake whether you are lifting or doing cardio (read the article on my website called "protein review" for more). I prefer the creatine post-workout mixed with my recovery drink.

@UFOFrenzy All my supps run about $220 per month. That was when I was trying to make big changes. Now that I'm maintaining, I use far less (like you are saying, I don't want to be on some of these for life). Now I'm just using whey protein, shakeology, and a recovery drink.

I work out in th evenings and am about to start Insanity. What is the best pre-workout that will get me pumped but subside fast enough to allow me to sleep well at night? I work out at 5:30 or 6 and go to sleep around 11.

@kicksit1980 You are going to have trouble taking a pre-workout before an evening workout. You'll either need to workout earlier in the day or not take a pre-workout. They will keep you up because they have a big dose of caffeine.

@nolandubya in terms of free weights, i noticed that you had the bowflex adjustable set which would be ideal but what would you recommend if you had to select a certain weight to use for the program. i can curl 40s for 5 but i'm assuming there is much more repitition in p90x. Therefore, would i be better off purchasing a set of 25 or 30s? i also have a resistance band that I could substitute in for some of the workouts. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

@MrTodd427 The exercises vary so much that I use everything from 10 lbs to 55 lbs. It will be very hard to use just one weight for everything -- half the time it will be so easy that you won't get any benefit and half the time it will be too hard to even be able to do with proper form. You at least need a few sizes - 10, 20, and 30 for starters.

Hello coach, I just received the P90X program and I’ve watched countless videos these last couple of days about P90X and the best supplements to go with it, but I’m not quite sure WHEN exactly to take these supplements.
