  • @hardyfh1 Eva Cassidy really does this song well. This version is very good too.

  • yeah, sounds far better in french

  • what a voice...i cant even....wao ♥

  • Piaf (little sparrow) was such a fabulous vocalist. It is quite pleasing to know that some people on You Tube have a sense and taste for culture. This lady is so far ahead of the headbangers who put out what is mistakenly called music now days.

  • @eatablealan You are so right, WHO can bring a soul into the concrete world these days?

  • First time I heard her sing in English.I agree with the comment she has a little over-the-top vibrato, but she is pleasant to hear, especially in French.

  • Such a sad song . ( May people who love each other never part.)

  • @mayarawatbisht

Yeah I think it's a bit too late for me. :(

  • To paraphrase Nero Caesar: "What a great artist the world has lost".

  • This is the first time I have listened to Edith Piaf, was wondering about her. I am surprised at the, in my opinion, overly present vibrato; otherwise I would like her version of this.

  • An old song is like a smile on a old friends face, some thing you just don't forget. Take care ADonovan43

  • She makes angels look stupid,....So beautiful

  • This grand lady's songs will always be a class act,

  • Deus que concebeu tal voz, que perfeição! Amo Edith Piaf. Abraços, Brasil.

  • 1:38 Cheer up Edith, we all love you.

  • goose bumps.......the torch in her voice is hautingly beautiful..

  • did she sing it in english?

  • @BeFairToYourself ...Did you listen to the song? This is the English version, she introduced it to the American public.

  • thank you and fack you!

  • SO SPECIAL YOUR VIDEOS ARE!!!!!MANY COMPLIMENTS!

  • "But I miss you most of all my darling," sounds also like she's saying, "my dolly"... I'm not sure which is more poignant; memories of a lost love or a lost childhood? It's such a touching song, anyway...

  • touch till the deepest part of soul

  • knod32.com

    thx

  • wow what a voice.

  • someone forgot their throat lozengers.

  • But 3,195 leaves fell gracefully, completing natures cycle.

  • 65 autumn leaves were burned in the sun

  • sixty three dislikes?!?!

I think some of those leaves just never quite grew.

  • My Love , I miss you today so bad .

  • The greatest!

  • she's the best

  • Beautiful. I wish the chorus had been absent. This singer does not need one.

  • listen again and again and again.........

  • J'adore cette chanson. Thank you so much for uploading this song. I do wish the entire song was in French though. I think it would have sounded even better, IMO.

  • i love her music <3

  • Неповторимо, чувственно и просто красиво. Классика навсегда!!!!!

  • j'adore.. magnifique

  • E' la canzone di questo periodo..

    oh mon dieu..j'adore..

    Mais la vie sépare

    Ceux qui s'aiment

    Tout doucement

  • great lyrics,great voice,great woman

  • J'adore á entendre cet chanson. Son voix est tres beau. Ce n'est pas rien!

  • @SoldierofFortune07

    ?????

    Let's me guess google translator.lol

  • @fabulous801 No, I'm actually studying French in college. However I don't remember writing this. The only thing I would say in that statement is the last sentence. The use of the double negative is the shit. It's a pity English people don't use it as much as the French.

  • @SoldierofFortune07

mmm...Sorry to disappoint you but the 3 sentences are incorrect. It should be: "J'adore ecouter cette chanson. Sa voix est tres belle." or in a more casual french:" j'aime trop cette chanson, Sa voix est trop belle". Not sure what you tried to express on the last sentence but if you write it in English I can translate it for you.

  • @SoldierofFortune07

Also "voix" is "feminin", "une voix" so the adjective should be "belle".

Casually speaking double negative is not really used much: "je veux pas", "je peux pas". Not literally correct but how people speak tho... you better find a Young french speaking buddy because you will get lost when you go down to France. hope this helps.

  • @fabulous801 I know I sound like a stuck up ass but I knew that stuff, however I haven't studied it in 3 months. I'm just glad to be going over it again in college. Are you a francophone yourself or are you in the same perdicament as me?

  • @SoldierofFortune07

I'm a born french speaker. I lived in Belgium in the 80's and 90's and move to the US since 2000. I also learned English during my high school years. But when I moved in US I found out I knew nothing. I picked soooo much faster here. That's why I believe traveling is the only true way to learn a language. Now I'm fluent in english and also spanish.

  • @fabulous801 True enough. But you learn the language even faster if you travel to the country AND get thrown in jail.

  • @fabulous801 I'm going over to France next year to work during the Summer and then I'll be heading over for the academic year as part of the Erasmus. Living the dream :)

  • @SoldierofFortune07

Nice. Good luck to you. ;)

  • Voila, tres tres bien!

Je n'ai jamais su que Edith Paif a chante cette chanson!

    VS Gopalakrishnan

  • Magnifiqye voix edith !!! <3

  • I try to make it a policy not to join in the endless, pointless debates as to which song or singer is better than another, but I do have to say that on this, my all time favourite song, the French versions by Greco, Montand and Piaf are in a class of their own. The lyrical approach of chanson brings out the true depth and meaning of this song, whereas English speaking versions - many brilliantly sung - gloss over the loss and melancholy. The French singers have the poetry and gravitas.

  • @hardyfh1 You're on the money here! this is a French song, by French writers with a French sensibility. They seem to be able to explore dark themes yet keep them swoony!

  • @hardyfh1 So beautifully worded! And so accurate!

  • @hardyfh1 What do you think of Eva Cassidy's version? x

  • @Sharsie It was Eva Cassidy that brought me here... I always get goose bumps when I hear Eva singing it!!! Haven't tired of listening to it in the past 10 years.

  • @hardyfh1 and you have heard eva cassidy's version?

  • @vja65 granted it is not of the same generation...different troubles and travails :)

  • No voice is like hers... the one and only Edith

  • Gracias Vinita por todo....Mama Conchita ya estan todos tus hijos otra ves juntos...

  • i like men

  • there are less then 10 singers in the history of music that everyone should know...

Edith Piaf... is one of them.

  • listened to liza, judy barbra in heaven wherenext

  • Didn't Steven Spielberg use an EDITH PIAF song as the centerpiece and topic of discussion for the scene just before the final battle in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN? Her voice is unmistakeable, and the French, WWII historical time period makes sense, too.

  • It's so wonderful I blew all my words away...

  • This is the waether.... Around my wiegh...

    I mean weigh...

  • This is the waether.... Around my wiegh...

  • This is the waether

  • thank you for uploading! simply amazing

  • The English lyric is not a translation of the French, but a completely new lyric, written by the incomparable Johnny Mercer. Piaf did well to do them both side by side.

  • belíssima! eterna!

  • reminds me of being in Love

  • The fallen leaves.....and the "Autumn comes"....don't compair this song with this chanson, but we've one thing together, the melancholie of the short days !

Enjoy the season, to survive this time.....

  • 58 personas no tienen gusto ni cultura musical

  • elle mangeroins dus grenouilles et des foques...

  • I love her saying,full of style,full of France!

  • One of my favourite songs, though I think Piaf comes across better in French. I think Barbra Streisand did it rather well, actually.

  • One of my favourite songs, though I think Piaf comes across better in French. I think Barbra Streisand did it rather well, actually.

  • Eva Cassidy does a lovely live version of this which I recommend to you all.

  • @norrisonthespot duh!! eva song like a dumb and and so so boring. i go to edith.

  • @ronan12341000 I strongly disagree. I just listened to Eva Cassidy's version and it's AMAZING. Plus she plays the guitar beautifully. But those 2 versions do not compare. Edith sings the 50's version, her way, the way she always sang. And Eva sings a completely different interpretation, but no less beautiful.

  • @norrisonthespot Thank you! I just listened to it and immediately fell in love with it. Thank you so much.

  • Its like a feritale.

Sony Music Entertainment. Det kan inte visas i ditt land. Make money.

  • This blows.Let me hear some Sabbath for gods sake.No actually very good.Have heard about Edith Piaf for years and was listening to different versions of Autumn Leaves so thought i would give it a shot. Not my bag but to each his own.Have been told she had a somewhat tragic life.Sometimes the singer is more interesting than the song. Would highly recommend Sarah Vaughan and Joe Pass,s version.

  • @redwashre

    I listen Sabbath,Van Halen,Ozzy,Alice Cooper,Rammstein,but I love...Marlene Dietrich as singer and artist in general.What about Edith?To me,she had a wonderful voice.I don't use to listen her songs often,but I appreciate her.

    Every tastes to everyone.:-)

  • Je l'aime et sa voix et son ... j'aime sa voix et son insolence ... Edith Piaf

  • love the sweet accent!

  • Oh it's so beautiful.

  • What a daft introduction! Completely out of character with Piaf's voice.

  • What a daft introduction!

  • its so amazing!

  • The falling leaves drift by the window The autumn leaves of red and gold I see your lips, the summer kisses The sun-burned hands I used to hold Since you went away the days grow long And soon I'll hear old winter's song But I miss you most of all my darling When autumn leaves start to fall C'est une chanson, qui nois ressaemble Toi tu m'aimais et je t'aimais Nois vivions tous, les deux ensemble Toi qui m'aimais moi qui t'aimais Mais la vie separe ceux qui s'aiment
  • @MegaCavatina thanks for repeating the whole song...
