@HappyFuriousMonkey this could be because it's deliberately meant to evoke the sound of "Viva La Vida" or whatever the Coldplay song was called. At easter 2008, he did a song about the people of the Philippines, who had been crucifying themselves, evocative of The Beatles song "The Ballad Of John & Yoko" (as Beatles no1 hits go, it's relatively "unknown"). Why this song? Because the chorus has the word "crucify" in the lyric. He's done plenty of other examples as well.
