Amen to that, I had the good fortune of seeing Buddy in person in Toronto in the 1980's, he had his hair in a curly perm then I am not exactly sure of the date, but It was great to see him. I don't know of the Johnny Vallis kindness, could you elaborate on that, Buddy was a particular favourite of mine, I thought he was much underrated, he was a great talent, who left us much too soon. RIP Buddy.
Mr ling Ting tong is a chinese from China Town in old Hong Kong (and he sprouts Confucius constantly) ok...joking ..lol. But starts when they are looking for Egg Foo Yong (asian dish) when they hear a gong (asian 'instrument', you can say) The "Hasem Oken Bola..." is some nice mumbo jumbo...I actually like all versions I heard so far of this classic. The Charms, 5 Keys, Hawkshaw Hawins. Gonna check Bill Haley too. Must be more from the golden era of Rockn'Roll aka '50s.
@frankv28 It was a subliminal way to make reference to "reefer smoking". "Boo" was an African-American slang for marijuana, and as a novelty/amusement, they made up this story of "Ling Ting Tong", so they could eventually say (sic) "I smokum boo-da-yay, I smokum boo".....and only the hipsters who were familiar with what "boo" was were in on the joke.
Tnx, BUT what is "egg foo yong"? Keep u young? ;O) And that "Hasim boukla boa..." Yey! What the heck is that meant to be??? Couriousty might kill me and I'm not even born in the year of the cat!
Egg foo yong is omelette with shark fin, a Chinese delicacy. 'Hashim boukla..' is not Chinese. Probably some mumbo jumbo made up by the songwriter. Don't look for egg foo yong in Stockholm. You will be disappointed.
Ancient Chinese belief is that shark fin keeps joints supple. You hit the nail on the head. :)

If you, like me, feel Buddy should ABSOLUTELY be in the R&R Hall of Fame, please write them a letter or e-mail and request they consider doing this.
Just look for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Google and enter your comment on their site.
Only with our help will Buddy Knox get the recognition he deserves and that is WAY overdue.

Tie-ess-a mo-cum boo-die-ay
Tie-ess-a mo-cum boo means 铁的莫兼富裸片艾 in (mandarin)chinese. Best of luck trying to figure out what 铁的莫兼富裸片艾 means.
