  • Who are the "people" that Don't like this beautiful piece of music? <3

¿Quién se atreve a no gustarle tal majestusidad de obra mestra musical?

  • This is the best live performace of Pathetique move 2 I have ever seen. Freddy Kempf is amazing!!! They say "music is the food of the soul" I say my soul has just eaten the most delicious meal ever!! God bless music and the great performers!!

  • This is wilhelm kempfs son

  • Oh wow, what a performance! Stunning in it's beauty.

  • Pensaba que silvio la compuso originalmente, pero veo que a otro genio se le paso por la cabeza primero XD

  • is the player crying?? if it's right, i understand him perfectly

  • Silvio Rodriguez.. Oh melancolìa..

  • So beautiful.

  • In its entirety, this is not a sad song. Beethoven wrote this when he found out he was losing his hearing. The first movement is depicting the rage and sorrow he felt. This second movement is depicting the comfort he receives. The third movement is almost a testament of joy.

  • The power to heal you and make you feel so incomplete.

  • really good!

  • When I feel patethique, I listen to this piece and I don't feel like that anymore, I am special for having the luck of knowing such a man made wonder!

  • this is totally make me cry

  • centre parting like a boss.

  • yeah for me this piece had nostalgia written all over it. When i played this song for my piano test, i just immersed myself into one of my most memorable and heartfelt memories.

  • I don't think this is a sad piece, although a lot of people seem to.

    "pathetique" doesn't mean "pathetic".

  • Beethoven's sonatas, when performed correctly, stir emotion. This was perfomed correctly. Thank-you!

  • Another pianist by the name of Kempff. Hm.

  • im playing this song and i LOVE it...its so romantic <3

  • good technically but im just not feeling the emotion in this

  • @silvermonky123 boyfriend youre trippin this artist is dripping with emotion. dumb bitch. :)

  • @silvermonky123 Something tells me you don't play any musical instruments or you suck at playing one. -____- Are you trying to say that someone as great as Freddy Kempf could become this talented without having emotion in his playing? I can guarantee you that he wouldn't have put 10,000+ hours into his playing if he didn't feel emotionally moved by the pieces he plays. I'm sorry that you can't feel the emotion in this piece, but maybe if you learn this piece, you'll get more out of it. ^^

  • @pokerus911 Actually I have been playing this piece for a while. I admit that of course I cannot play it nearly as technically well as he does. Nor am I saying he is a bad pianist at all; far from it. All I'm saying is that although I can't play this piece quite as well, I believe I play it with more emotion; and I am more moved when I play this myself or hear others play it. It's just my opinion, and I believe he is a great pianist, but personally, I just can't really "feel" the piece.

  • @silvermonky123 ah, well, i can understand what you mean... usually after i can play a piece, i feel more emotion when i play it too. ^^; you should post a video of you playing it :o

  • @silvermonky123 have you checked you pulse recently???

  • @silvermonky123

contrary to popular belief I actually agree with you on this one. Although Kempf does a beautiful job of his technique and expressions through phrasing and voicing, he does lack a certain 'feel' to it

but then again it could be the audio xP perhaps if we heard him live it would invoke our emotions more

  • Que composição maravilhosa! Música vinda diretamente das cortes reais do reino celestial!

  • This is amazing you have got to listen to this

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73

    It's next level amazing!!!

  • @madman1234228 amo el 2° mov

  • 36 people are deafer than Beethoven ever could be!

  • Very very good!!!

  • i couldn't play this without bursting into tears

  • Can anyone say there is more beautiful yet sad piece out there that tops this one. I could only think of Claire de Lune but it isn't quite as sad. This piece always gets to anyone. make someone who loves metal music listen to this, there response will be "Wow. that was beautiful."

  • @aeabottss22

    Listen to this

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73

It's amazing so relaxing and emotional.

  • @aeabottss22 Try the Tristesse Etude by Chopin

  • i just can't excplain what kind of emotions this pieace gives me, its just so wonderful. i can feel it with my close eyes, somewhere deep inside of me

  • i would cut the ears of those dislikers off, they aren't honest enough to hear this masterpiece!

  • Beyond words. This is played from somewhere so deep, it would be an insult to give mere words to it.

  • This should be rated as Adult Contnet.

  • I was playing this song some minutes ago in my keyboard, because i get really sad with myself!!! I started to cry without limit, and when i finished, i felt really great! Because this music let me open my heart in difficult moments of my life! Thanks for reading. I love this song!

  • It's like looking to your child and see yourself in him. All the inocence in the universe in his eyes, dragging you to the most nostalgic feeling that makes you remember : I once was innocent, but gradually , this innocence was taken by the life .

  • @crazysamtify that means that you are a stupid bastard

  • @crazysamtify omg, you killed Spur niveau many years ago (translation :)

  • what grade is this?

  • @lijey0804 It's grade 10 RCM

  • It's One of the best pieces I habe ever heard abs have a lot.

So can sb. explain me why pressing dislike ?

  • @jbvselibu cause you're a fucking retarded loser.

  • what the fuck's with the korean? (perhaps telling the story of beethoven waiting for the carriage drivers to fix the tire that was blown on his way to see his beloved, but alas, fate would not be kind and she left, leaving him to write this sonata...(that is one version of this song, who's to say))

  • possibly the most beautiful piano piece of all times, freddie carries with it such emotion, dim the lights close your eyes and let your, mind, body and soul transcend.

  • Chills.

  • Am I the only person who can hear a bit of queen in this movement?

  • this song should be played to remember the victims of 9/11...absolute tragic

  • @AlexPianoPwns then they should play it a thousand times to remember the victims of the ongoing wars

  • WW3 can break free right now and i would be listening to this song not even caring

  • eternal

  • I love the piano:) Everytime I feel stressed or sad, i sit down and play a song that fits the emotion I'm feeling. It feels like it connects with your soul and you can see that in this man's expressions. Music is the key to the soul and I don't know what I would do without it.

  • this is a case where i can profess my love to two strangers (Kempf and Beethoven) because their music is just too beautiful!! T_T

  • It's sad that this man's emotion is limited by the piano and his hands.

  • @IITajann he's moved by the music he's playing.

  • beaaaaautiful

  • I searched "the most beautiful music of all times" and got here...

  • @patinetatrueno sounds about right

  • I used to smile when I hear this song, it brought me joyful feelings. But when I listen to kempf's interpretation of the song, it brings a tear to my eye. Its amazing how a pianist can convey different emotions with each their own interpretation of the song.

  • 35 dislikes? I love the music!

  • stupid question here but is he any relation to wilheim kemf???

  • @highlanderdurp Wilhelm kempff is his grandfather on his dad's side but freddy kempff's mother is japanese.. i think :)

  • @sarahjibjabs no, it's not the same family.

  • @orinym Sorry, my mistake then! :)

  • @highlanderdurp He is his grandson.

  • wow talk about emotion. that guy is on the verge of tears seems like lol. fits the song perfectly A+

  • he looks like my physics teacher!

  • You can find free sheet music (in PDF) for this (and the rest of the Sonata, and many more) at the Petrucci Music Library at imslp dot org.

  • @YeshuaAaron Indeed! More people need to know about this! I see, on so many videos, people asking for sheet music of a certain piece and they don't notice that there are thousands of lifetimes of sheet music in the Petrucci Music Library!

  • @HectorAndresMayoral is that online petrucci library

  • @highlanderdurp Yep! At times it´s a little difficult to find sheet music with the search in the library, but I just google, let´s say:

¨Beethoven Pathetique Petrucci Library¨ and several files with the sheet music pop up. The first one in alot of files I´ve seen are antique style, scanned and uploaded, but there´s always a really good one. There are also recordings as well.

  • The first time I heard this composition I fell in love with the piano

  • Powa!!

  • nothing

  • can someone plz give me a link for the sheet music to this?

  • “Do you think I give a damn about you and your pathetic violin?”

    -Ludwig Van Beethoven

  • 1:38 to 2:07 is magnificent

  • Beautifully played with great passion and expressive interpretation. Well done

  • just Love it!!=)))))))))))

  • As garbageman007 very well said, music is an art form, and as the definition of art suggests, it must be composed, reproduced and absorbed with pure liberty, free of technicalities. As some great individual once mentioned, music is the only art that so purely restricts access to it's underlying meaning, if it really has any. The ambiguity of music endowes it with the ability to stimulate emotions in the recipient that paintings could not.

Let's not destroy that ambiguity with technicalities.

  • "It is the power of music to carry one directly into the mental state of the composer."

    -Ludwig Van Beethoven

You can feel the sadness among the romantic music....

  • I don't mind the technical analysis - to get to the level that Beethoven reached took a great deal of time and dedication, and I'm sure he would appreciate eliciting in others the same enthusiasm he doubtless felt when listening, for example, to Bach.

What annoys me are the pseudo-poetical ramblings that pass for 'insight' in some comments.

  • Comment removed

  • though i tend to favor his violent, furious attacks on the piano...i have to say that it is in the soft, delicate pieces such as this one, where he demonstrates his true genius.

  • It's funny that I noticed the top comment about people "arguing." When I listen to this, or any piece, I never read the comments anyways.

It's your own fault and wasted time if you get yourself into it.

  • @pratty96 you got me(^○^)

  • This is the perfect version, ideally paced and performed. Other versions are too fast for my liking. He puts so much emotion into the performance, I love it.

  • Really nicely played, 5:25 sucks a bit though...

  • I love this!!!

  • 34 personas no tienen sensibilidad!!!

  • Listen to the 2nd movement of Mozart's sonata in C minor, at about halfway through your mind will be blown... you'll find out why.

  • Such a simple piece... Yet such a complex emotion!

  • This is great!!!!!!!

  • 34 people thought it said "dis I like"

  • Me too, I could listen to this twenty times or even more, in a row and I wouldn't get tired!

  • for this song, i only like 2nd movement

  • @MargaretthaJole

Me too, and I think it is one of the best pieces ever

  • i love this movement, its special for me,im starting to learning it on my piano :D

  • Makes my heart melt... Beautiful rendition!

  • Heavenly. Kempf owns this piece! Bravo.

  • perfectly played!! I know Mr. Beethoven is there somewhere smiling and shouting bravo!! >>> those 35 people ,i guess, accidentally clicked the wrong button because their hands are shaking after listening to this.

  • If your father played this every afternoon, then I call you lucky!

Your father is a true romantic! I can hear this 20 times a day and AI would love it!

  • perfeito!

  • Does anyone have the sheets for this play? PLEASE I cant find it anywhere!

  • @Julialovesthebeatles

try at the IMSLP you can find almost any score there

  • This song is so beautiful, and something around the word vulnerable, if that makes sense. It doesn't make me cry, but it makes my soul cry...god that's sounds stupid... I'll shut up now. It's just beautiful. there. :)

  • Maravilhoso!! Perfeito!!

  • IT IS SOOOO GUDD. ^^

  • Even the hardest of hearts can be softened with this music and preformance! My congratulations to the musician!

  • @mai3791 they say that music soothes the savage beast. i know when im upset or angry, music relaxes me. especially pcs like this. beethoven in general. moonlight sonata too.

  • @charlottieloulou hope you did great at it! unfortunately i play the violin :( i wish i was great with the piano and play this beautiful piece :)

  • The rhythm he is playing is totally wrong. Listen to others and you will hear the difference. And what all sudden staccatos are about?!

  • was Wilhelm Kempf his father? because they don't look alike. in fact they're not even the same race.

  • play it, freddy!

  • That F# octave hits me every time... gorgeous.

  • Learnt the piano of this up to 1.12 in the video. Trying to learn rest but that is amazing. outstanding. =)

  • If you are listening to this piece, or if you are watching this video, there is a moment of peace and you forget the world around you with all the problems in it. Wonderful!

  • He really feels inside him wgat his playing

a great piece from a greater composer

  • 34 people disliked this video.

Just in case anyone was wondering.

  • @Celolapia1- that makes roughly 2%

  • Incomparable interpretation of the greatest piece of music ever composed. Simply beautiful.

  • 34 people disliked this video. Please stop doing this kind of humor ^^ :D:D

  • 34 persons are PATHETIQUE

  • 34 people are dead inside.

  • This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've learned about half of it and I keep coming back to make sure I've played the rhythms right in comparison to Freddy's interpretation of the piece. So beautiful!

  • @lifewithnoregrets

    Don't copy Freddy

    Make the style your own!

  • I can feel the pain Beethoven went through listening to this beautiful piece..

  • there is absolutely nothing wrond with the way he played this piece. a job well done...

  • Wilhelm is his daddys daddy

  • I really love this song. It's one of those songs that you do not mind listening even if it makes us remember sad things.

  • wondefully gentle and slow!!!!!!!!ahh i love that piece

  • he looks a bit like chandler from friends

  • Who was the idiot that puts those hands down

  • is he related to wilhelm???

  • @soldier29

nope, his name is Freddie Kempf, Wilhelm's family name is Kempff, with 2 f

  • Fantastic

  • Now that's music.

    Period.

  • this was absolutely perfect. from timing to his composure. not too overdone. he is a classy guy.

  • =')

  • This music is just sooo...genius. Reminds me of spending a day at my grandparents house when I was little. What a lovely, caring performance, just brilliant.

  • 34 people are deaf

  • @mlau123 Including Beethoven.... ha sorry.

  • excellent!

  • excellent!

  • Beethoven would be so pissed if he saw people arguing over his music so technically like everybody does. he probably came up with this whole piece while he was depressed sitting in his apartment with his 60-bean coffee, not giving a shit about anything but the beautiful sound of his piano and what an amazing thing music is. thats what separates the over-analyzing, judgemental music-school "musician" from the true artist like Beethoven was

  • @garbageman007 I don't think he would, any musician tries to improve and will find fault with anything. That's the subjective nature of music, it's never actually complete. Beethoven was an excellent composer and I have no doubt that composing this entire piece to make sure that every minute detail is functioning as he wants it to was exhausting. It doesn't have to be easy just because it's relaxing.

  • @garbageman007 actually pro'lly drinking booze....he was extremely pathetique

  • @garbageman007 We analyze because we're obsessed with music. We debate on what sounds best and how it should be played. That doesn't make us wrong, it just means we're a less casual than the listener such as yourself.

  • @garbageman007 Beethoven's always pissed!

  • this pathetique is by no means pathetic
