Thanks for the video. It confirms that a very effective area is the leg/knee area. Keep that in mind when the attacker gets too close and there is not enough distance between the two of you to strike the upper body. There will still be enough distance between your hand and the lower part of the body, such as the knee.

It's nice to see people getting some REAL training in using a baton. The problem with many people who are armed with batons (often called nightsticks) is that they receive very little training in how to use the nightsticks. Many mall security guards, auxiliary police, and even regular police know very little about how to use a stick properly to defend themselves or take down a suspect. The are given a 15 minute crash course, and it may be in a class rather than a gym where it can be practiced.

But we are maybe more careful to hurt people more than neccersarly. So we are teached to aim at muscle to paralyse it instead.

Yes I've worked with the redman suit in the UK with expandable and side handled baton training. Its like fighting the guy that never stops coming, makes you very tired. Also makes you consider other tactical options instead of believing every one you strike will go down.
