  • the rap sounds very 80s and very white, theyre ok but nothing to write home to mum about. the drummer needs to tighten up a bit hes to loose.seen them live. but theres a tighter group in sydney called spooky tooth that are a lot tighter and a phatta sound

  • Truly great drumming!! Technical - but very solid timing too... Classic drumming.

  • What a great Aussie band !

Shame the recording wasn't better quality !

How good is Terepai Richmond on those drums !!

  • this band rocks!! I use to listen to them during the 90's whereever they played to a packed audience...back then there music was on tape....

  • Rick got into Baecastuff and Eon. Both were great.

  • The best group I know. Don´t You know some similar funky bands? Thank You and thanks for D.I.G.

  • if you can't imagine anything better then that, stay where you are I'll be right back!

  • Get back together. I loved Curvystrasse btw

  • Grew up on DIG live, loved it, remember the Byron gigs? :-D

Checkout "Multiball" for Sam and Terepai's side project.

  • yea multiball is awesome

  • this drummer is amazing.

  • Yes, Terapai is the man.

  • This is a trip. Thanks!! I was there, I can't believe that was 14 years ago. Do you have the rest of the performance? If so, please post!

  • Awesome. Are there any other videos of d.i.g on YouTube??

  • Terepai... what a god.

  • My god this is some awesome stuff. I have all their albums except the live one. I never got to hear them live and had never seen any video until now. These guys made some of the best music ever made by anybody.Rick Roberts is too tough on the sax and that drummer is inhuman.A concert video of this group would be the holy grail of acid jazz.

  • Thanks for your appreciation! I didn't think Dig were known in the States or are you an ex-Aussie?.Although I am a professional cameraman this was a family outing and I only had a small camcorder with me.I had no idea Dig were playing a free open air concert,we just came across them.Without any permission i ended up getting inside the fence to get my footage. You see my son at the end come and get me as "mum is waiting"

Anyway Glad you like it there is more which I will post soon.

  • I am an African-American who grew up listening to funk and my old man was really into jazz. Count Basie and Duke Ellington were friends of his. My Mom loved Jimmy Smith. Eventually I put the jazz and the funk together. I really got into the whole acid jazz scene and have hundreds of CD's from that era most still sounds fresh. DIG made some of the best music to come out of that period. I would venture that most people in the US would not know of them.

  • Wow, I have all their albums and I must say this is the first time I hear or see them "live", so I thank you for this opportunity.

    You did a nice job.

    Thank you,

    Davy

  • One of my favourite albums, DIG DEEPER, although i lost the CD its still on the computer :). Hip Replacement

  • I was meaning hip replacement was my favourite song, just in case anyone got confused with that being this song. This song is called Two Way Dreamtime. Band D.I.G (Directions in Groove)

  • The favorite is a brillient track if anyone finds it

  • when is this? are these awesome dudes still playing

  • Terepai - unreal! I've been waiting for someone to post a clip of my favourite drummer. Got any more?

  • those drums and that bass line are TIGHT
