@sjrailfan35: This video was posted 3 years ago. Lot of things have changed since then. You might want to take time to read some old posts on headsupnorcal, it's documented there.
I was a switchman in Oakland in the 60's There was a job/crew called the "Zipper".
We worked West Oakland and the Homestead Yard and the Desert Yard also. We would take cars from the homestead yard to the east Oakland yard and back again. to the desert yard. We went through Jack London both ways. Weekends were the worse. People partying and drunk would stand in front of the engine or run across at the last minute. It was scary because nobody wanted to see somebody get hurt..
Could be bad roller bearings, sticking brakes, or flat spots on a wheel. As for the red car, that looks like a brand new coil car. It carries coiled rolls of steel.
BNSF in Jack London Square?! Hray!!!! That means 4449 can come and visit the Bay Area. In your face Union Pacific, its all about the BNSF, the Southern Pacific and the 4449!!!!
hahah yah some go off real easy. My friends truck goes off every time my other friend drives by it with his car that has the Fart Can! (Cherry Bomb exhaust..lol)
BNSF doesn't have trackage rights to San Jose so the short answer is no. There have been BNSF power used on UP trains through San Jose on rare occasions, however.
I am aware that the NUMMI plant is located in the Warm Springs area of Fremont. It is where the Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Tacoma, and Toyota Corolla are manufactured!!
I saw it! The job you saw ran in the morning, so it could be the switch job between West and East yards, since GP15-1 was used. It could also be the more rare San Leandro Job that runs occasionally in the morning.
I thought the Warm Springs Local only runs on Wednesdays.

@cchan006 I believed the changes happened because of that NUMMI Plant closure in Fremont.

Every time I go trainspotting in Tehachapi and Cajon, I'm astounded not to get shot by UP policemen. UP hates us.
TheRedAngelz 2 years ago
I don't think the UP police would shot you for train spotting.
Maybe if you were violating stafety rules, they would probably just arrest you.

oh,ok. where else does bnsf run?
lawpar79 3 years ago
BNSF runs north from Oakland to Richmond (Stege) on UP. They usually run on their own tracks from Richmond to Stockton, then down to Bakersfield.
