Nope, Cherry coke never even existed until 1982. The reason it had a lot of 50's flashbacks was because it was the children of the 60's that where in high and powerful places and used their nostalgia of the 60's shape the style of the present (80's).

because it ONLY took them 30+ years and the death of the fountain bar to realize they could sell the flavors created at the pharmacy soda counter.
