Luthier John Moriarty sets up Louis' Guitars. He has worked to Louis' requirements making compensated bridges for improved tuning. Google Archtop.ie
Wow. This is great. I studied in Dublin from 89 to 91 and went to see Louis every week in JJs. That's me front right glued to his every finger movement. Just mad to see this 20 years on. Brilliant. The man is a legend.
These were The AIB/RTE/Arts Awards - a black-tie televised award show, and they took only very little footage (literally only the one tune you see excerpted here) at his then regular Dublin gig to illustrate before giving Louis his statuete and making glowing praiseful statements about the importance and prominence of his contribution to Irish life, and about the consistency of his excellence. Louis did not make a speech, though.

A new favorite guitarist!
He's great, must've watched this about 5 times in a row.
Why don't we as Americans know more about him?

What a killer! I would've loved to hear Louis trading choruses with Jimmy Raney - gorgeous boppish lines on guitar!

@Gminor7 I thought the exact same thing, their lines seem to be mixed in the same pot so to speak. Deft attention to melodicism here.
