  • It was such an honor to play with these guys and against all odds we did it...no sound check, mics weren't on, monitors sucked. I wish we recorded the rehearsal in the hotel room the night before...priceless! Still love these guys and will support theirs (and my dads) music till I die! Too much crap out there these days. Check out Moby Grape 2010 in Austin, TX. Much better audio support. Love o

  • I think they soulnd great....forget all you naysayers...thanks for postin this vid....wish they would come out to new england

  • I can't hear Bob Mosley singing, his microphone seems to be off. What a great band.

  • How about the "Summer of Cheese Tour" .

    Sad........

  • It's way easier for me to see things far away these days. Just basically listened to this and really thought that this was from back in the day and they were all on a bummer or something. Thank God I was mistaken at least on that point. But they were awesome back then. Gotta go now and look up a good Optometrist.

  • Okay, they had a bad day. Their first album and Moby Grape 69 were masterpieces. A lot of us got wasted back then. They were the bad boys of rock and probably were a nightmare for Columbia. So what ! They made the Stones look like choir boys.

  • they just need to rehearse a little and it'll sound great again

  • Ugh. This is embarrassing! If Skip Spence were alive he'd be chasing this guy around the stage with a meat cleaver. NAKED!

  • they funk'n suck

  • Ha, I was at this concert!

Moby Grape was definitlely one of the highlights for me that day.

    =)

  • sad to say, I agree, but they sure were one of the best 40 yrs ago

  • Indeed. They were one of the greatest and most creative groups of all time. Long live the Grape!

  • They sound like shit. I love "The Grape " but it is so depressing to watch these guys try and recreate what they were forty years ago. I just love listening to the albums. cds whatever. I'm out.

  • Mosleys mike isnt even turned on!!

  • I'm sure Omar already knows since this was posted on the Grape Yahoo group a few days after this show. I'm sure Connie and Bob told him

  • Ha, I should go tell Omar that he ended up on youtube. He should get a good laugh out of this

  • Too bad Skip Spence was not alive for the reunion. They were one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • One of the greatest rock bands of all time. Too bad - we never heard enough from them!

  • AMAZING day!

    AMAZING GRASS, AMAZING LINEUP!

  • I was there in 2007 & was there in 67', thats for the video, Moby grape had not been together in over 30 years & was great to see them again. Thanks

  • I saw them at this event and in 97 and 98 in NYC-they were great.

  • Many combinations did continue playing.Miller, Stevenson and Lewis in 95, and 94,Miller, Mosley and Miller. Check E Bay MG videos

  • Wild Grape :)

  • AMAZING!

  • The songs the Grape play in this video are as follows: "Fall On Me", "8:05", "Murder In My Heart For The Judge", and "Hey Grandma". Thanks a lot for posting this auweia1!

  • You know, the idiots who say this doesn't sound good, just keep it to yourself. I love these guys and give them credit for getting back on the stage. I wish I could see them, I'd dance till my feet fell off! From a fan in Zwolle, the Netherlands.

  • Inconsistent performance. The vocals are rough, and while glimmers of the band's talent emerge here and there, the group lacks the energy of their glory days. Compare this performance with the two vintage vids of the band here in You Tube from back in the day and one could tell that the band was nourished by the time it came from and Skip Spence.

  • Maybe it's not as polished as some might wish but it's 'live' and the vocals still have that Grape trademark sound.

  • Gosh darn, this is bringing tears to my eyes, even if I can't see the band that good. Sure, they sound A LITTLE ragged. Jerry Miller sure is sounding good on "8:05." They were the best band that ever came out of the San Francisco scene...PERIOD. No other album by any of their S.F. brethren affects me like the first album from these guys!

  • Amen to that, these guys were great. They should have been bigger than the Stones. Jerry Miller was and is still one of the great unsung guitarists of all time.

  • I was there and the Grape sounded good. Give 'em a few weeks on the road playing together and we'd all see what's been missed. I was at the 2 Wetlands shows in NYC in the mid-90's and they were pretty good (especially the 2d year with a healthier Mose).

  • Summer of Love 2007, what a joke

  • An odd comment. Sour Grapes?

  • "Summer of Love 2007, what a joke"

True. If there's a moment that is the complete opposite of 1967 it's the present.

  • It's a shame, but it's true...:(

  • Well said, that man. Where's the love, y'all?

Still I loved Moby Grape in '68 - soundtrack of my teen years. Young musicians ain't got a clue.....

  • Well, anyway, they use to sound good.

  • Can someone please ID the members for those of us with poor eyesight? Thanks from an aging hippie...

  • Peter Lewis on the right (white shirt), Bob Mosely (black shirt), then Omar Spence (red short) and Jerry Miller on left almost behind the bushes in the cowboy hat

  • Many thanks for the clarity -- do you know who played drums? Can't tell if it's Don Stevenson, or perhaps Aynsley Dunbar or that ever-versatile drummer, "None of the Above". Also, thanks for the post, wish I was there, huge fan from back in the day.

  • It's Don.

  • By the way- that's Skip Spence's son in the red shirt.

  • is skip spence their? what happened to him

  • Sorry to say, Skippy passed on a few years ago. That is his son Omar, in the red shirt, standing in for his dad. (Doing right well too.... ;)

  • Moby Grape were the hightlight of the day for me. Living in England I never thought I'd see them live and by Hey Grandma they had really got it together.

  • Everyone should only be this "burnt"! Jerry and the guys still sound awesome!!! Thanks for sharing this video.

  • i watched them in the movie "Sweet Ride".

  • I worked undercover at the event. The best crowd ever, good to see the grape which was the highlight of the event for me, great vibe, our spotters calculated 50,000+ in attendance, great attitude, felt back at home, Hugh Romney and I reminisced about the QMS and the one of a kind Frank Polte. I was forty years younger for a short while, thanks for the great clip.

  • hey check the links for bluoz dot com I ahve mp3 on the blog of the same show recorded with better equipment..these video microphones are pretty bad

  • Hey Grandpa! I guess the fire's kind of burnt out for the Grape.

  • well, they only had 15 minutes to play here. The 1998 Santa Rosa show was great. Actually they get better once they get warmed up. Give em an hour of playing and they'll start smokin

  • Don't get me wrong - I am a big fan and recently downloaded Hey Grandma and others so I can blast them in my car, but the video sound quality was not good and didn't help the situation. Harmony did sound kind of sour. Anyway, thanks, saved me a 400 mile trip from L.A.

  • Well, the Grape was never a first-set band; they need to settle into the groove, if you will. They also don't all live in the same house - or even state - anymore, so, practice is sporatic - at best. They are playing too much as individuals (though each indvidual is doing quite well) and not as a band - with a lot of adrenaline to boot, but, they got tighter as this set went on. The fire is still there, it just needs a little fanning at practice to burst forth again.

  • You should only be this "burnt", dude...I'm so grateful to hear and see them--both at the show and here on Youtube.
