Actually, it's called "Omikuji" in Japanese.
Ataru and Lamu try to buy an "onikughi" .
Is a japanise tradition: just before springtime people ask to destiny a "divination" about the future, who is written in a paper.
If they don't like the "profecy" they just have to attach the onikughi to a cherrytree.
As you can see, noone divination is good for Ataru but the boy has 1000000 resources against hard destiny (and Lamu too ;-) ).
