@HotTop202 The main differences between a 1000T and a 1003 are the solenoid valves that allow the siren to produce a Hi-Lo or Pulse signal - the 1003 is equipped with solenoids and the 1000T is not. As such, the 1003 can produce a Hi-Lo signal and the 1000T cannot. The solenoids can be seen as the 'bowtie' at the base of the horn.
does one rotor do the high and one do the low? it sounds like a slowed-down DING DONG! that you hear on tannoy systems+ didnt Federal Signal make Ceiling speakers, I am sure I saw one and it was IDENTICAL to a CES AUDIO QCM-6061
@RediffusionMusic Yes, the 10 port rotor produces the low tone and the 12 port rotor produces the high tone; the coding shutters cut off the air flow to one side at a time for the High-Low signal.
I don't know very much about PA systems, but a quick look on the Federal Signal site shows the AMR6 AudioMaster as their current ceiling speaker.
Playing this video at 10:00 am Italian time, 9:00 am there in England :-)
As ever it sounds scary, but also so sweet and beautiful to me, considering I wanted to move there and I was nearly doing it... I miss Berkshire so much :-(
Please, what siren do you think I would hear from Crowthorne?
Hope to be there again one monday to listen to it! *.*
@RainbowUapa I believe that there are three sirens in Crowthorne; one at the station, one at the TRL and one at Broadmoor Hospital itself. The siren at the station is probably the easiest to see, as it is very close to the station car park and only a few metres away from the end of the platform. ^_^
@pauly7112 This siren is near Ascot. The siren in Camberley is on top of the Main Square car park; as far as I know, it's not easily visible, but it is certainly audible...
@jackcashel Both of those points have been addressed in previous comments.
The 'buzzing' noise that you hear is resonance, possibly from within the solenoid mechanisms. It doesn't serve a warning purpose, and is not audible from a distance.
There are not two sirens; the siren is on the tower in the background (on the left in this video), and the tower in the foreground (on the right in this video) is a venting chimney to remove underground gases.
@jackcashel Remember that there are thirteen sirens in the network. I would think that the one that you could hear from Yateley would be either the siren in Finchampstead or one of the sirens in Sandhurst.
Took the kids round the walls today ,and told them about the escapes when we were kids.the axe man one went down well lol, used to crap a brick when it went off at night.the vents up at chavey were or for the landfill dump which they have been filling for nearly 25 years dont know if its still in use.spooky to hear it again though been out of bracknell for nearly fifteen years.
@jackcashel No, I was far enough away that it couldn't damage my hearing. This isn't actually too loud by siren standards - it is 'only' 109dB @ 100 ft. Compared to something like a Sentry 40V2T, this is almost quiet!
@hootergirlsrhot Perhaps partly, but not entirely. Remember, sound comes from the intake as well as from the ports.
This model is not as large as a 3T22, and the model that is, the CS12, is about as loud as the Federal.
The main difference between a vertical design (like the 3T22) and a horizontal design (like the CS8) is not so much the sound output as the sound coverage pattern - a vertical siren produces a circular coverage pattern, whereas a horizontal siren produces more of a figure-eight.
I live a few miles away from broadmoor. Although i've not lived here long enough to have experienced an escape, it is certinley chilling every Monday morning to hear this. It's audible for many miles.
@defysquirrel189 I believe that it is a venting chimney for removing gases from underground. There are four of them around the cell-phone tower, which is just out of shot to the right.

dude it kinda sounds like our thunderbolt 1000 or 1003t's HI-LO
btw what's the difference between 1000t or 1003t?

@FederalSystem7000 Thank you so much for the answer and the precious informations!
Going back to England in November, but I'll stay in Brighton... But I could jump at Crowthorne station just for that siren *.*

Wow. This brings back memories. I used to school at Ascot Heath Infant School. Was very spooky.

I live in Rome, but I often go to Crowthorne, where you can hear the siren really well.
It's scary and fascinating at the same time and if I can I always try to be there on monday, so I can hear it :-D
I like it :-) Even if I think if I heard it on another day, while walking around, I'd panick probably :-D
Thank you for the video :-)

@FederalSystem7000 is it quiet because its vertical, no projectors, and half of the sound is moving upwards where no one will hear it?

@MACCALEEK Yes, this is the siren at Chavey Down, located just next to the skate park off Long Hill Road. And thanks.

@FederalSystem7000 Quite correct. Plenty around this part of the country where mines have closed down. Used to vent methane.

Was the whistling noise at 1:16-1:19 the siren or a nearby whistle?
TBOLT1000 1 year ago
@TBOLT1000 The sound that you describe is indeed from the siren. I guess that it is some sort of resonance within the solenoid mechanisms.
FederalSystem7000 1 year ago
@FederalSystem7000 Definitly resonance. maybe even caused by a distortion created within the camera...
