  • Congratulations Mark!

  • Pastor and priest are the same. Bishop in the Lutheran church, in places where it's used (otherwise they're called presidents) is a pastor of the same rank in an office of oversight. There's only one rank of pastor/priest etc.

  • @MrHugo1217 Well sorry but you are not correct. In my videos, for example, Christ is risen - Easter Day mass in Skara 2, you can see Lutheran deacons, priests and bishops ordained in an unbroken apostolic succession with the first bishop, St. Peter and the apostles. The church is were the bishop is, the bishop has the full priestly office, an sacramental office, not just the priesthood of all believers.

  • the title of pastor is synonomous (pardon spelling!) with priest. In the Lutheran church there is one ordained office - that of pastor. a bishop in Lutheran sense is a pastor who oversees other pastors, but they are not of higher rank. the ordination can be performed by any pastor (usually the bishop, aka president). Apostolic succession occurs through continuity of teaching, rather than physical "lineage" from the apostles. Hope this helps - i'm no expert, just a lutheran seminarian!

  • @MrHugo1217 In addition to the bishop (who has the full priestly office) and priest, there is also the office of deaconate. They are also ordained through laying of hands of a bishop. If you as a seminarist know your Lutheran history you should know that the office of bishop was never abolished during the reformation.

  • But there are no office of the pastor; but of the priest?! I do not see a bishop ordinating him?
