  • wow, whar a wonderful chor with a lot nice voices..greetz from turkey

  • ho le palle di riserva nel taschino del gilet

  • This may have made my day! Makes me smile! Good job to the women who did it.

  • Excellent use of dissonance! Very impressive!

  • This Just goes to show you....everyone, everywhere Likes the South ! :)

  • Not very attractive, are they? lol

  • @nyc4044 Have you ever met a Bulgarian in person? Some of the most beautiful, friendly people in the world. Sure, I'm biased because my fiancée is Bulgarian, but I've been to several Bulgarian parties and events, and these are some of the coolest people I've ever met. Surprisingly, most speak English as well, with varying degrees of fluency. Far better than my Bulgarian, to say the least.

  • @kevinrice70 ТHANK YOU, FOR YOUR KIND WORDS. I AM BULGARIAN AND I AM SO HAPPY TO READ THAT! ;):):)

  • Chill out y'all, I actually like the flavor. But not this pathetic rendition of "Oh Susanna". I'll tell you what I like. The ‘Polegnala e pschenitza’ by Stephan Kanev and Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares version in the 2010 briitish comedy "Skeletons" soundtrack... which I can't seem to find anywhere. @sleeper7271, crush my nuts in vice and maybe I could sing in Bulgarian. ;)

  • @cygnusaurus Don't worry, male singing in the Bulgarian folklore is usually done with manly, deep voices. The only problem would be the LANGUAGE ;p

  • Omg that sux so bad, where should I begin?

  • @cygnusaurus Well, give 'em a break. English isn't their first language.

  • @cygnusaurus why dont you try singing in Bulgarian ?

  • where can i get the sheet music for this??

  • Awesome harmonies! Love to hear these women sing -

  • Excellent

  • Great!!!

  • AWESOME!

  • sometimes in the song the voice sound beautiful, sometimes the harmony is so off my ears bleed

  • great !!!!

  • хаха кви симпатични бабки xD :P

  • Wow. Even to a relatively silly song they can bring depth. Amazing.

  • Simply amazing, and it looked like they all had fun singing it!

  • Bravo, very nice...

  • wonderfull, how can people kill eachother in the world when people are beautifull like this, go south go south dixie will proceed,

  • еха, дончю край фор ми!!!!

  • @dezirra Wow, English written with Cyrillic alphabet. Nice.

  • o suzanaaaaaaaaa brao na jenite brao

  • It sounds so good!

  • The harmony is so unique and beautiful. Clare Fischer, this one's for you!

  • good choice

  • Wow, the harmonies are stunning.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa nai silnite

  • ludi sa da :DD

  • хаха луди бабички ;)

  • well I'm from Bulgaria....beautiful counrty I love it

  • Victoria. I think you missed the point. Ease up, it's obvious you like them.

  • Good grief...out of all the lovely songs in the world, the choir director chose THAT!? Good grief....I feel shocked and disappointed. Although they did a fantastic job, but what a horrible song... They are excellent singers. But choir director must choose better material.

  • do they speak english??? cuz if not, great job!!! i can't even sing choir songs in spanish!!! but if they do speak english, i'm sorry, but lol.

  • they were raised in communism, of course they don't speak any western languages :)

  • Western languages were taught during communist times - mostly French and German and less English. Of course, Russian was no. 1.

  • Opaa q gi na6te bapki kak peiuvat haha zabava ;)

  • Great Job !!! :)

  • Whoooweee! *shivers* That was amazing!

  • I am bulgarian and I am proud of other bulgarians like these :]

  • beautiful and pure natural voice! hats off to Bulgarian people!

  • A taka!

  • Didn't they do the Rolling Stones "Jumping Jack Flash" some years ago in Sydney?

  • It is very nice that they did this for the Americans, but their Bulgarian stuff is SO much better. And I'm American. Our music doesn't really work with their harmonies, although this is interesting.

  • haha :)

  • Guys, this is an internationally popular song. it's maybe as much theirs as it is ours.

  • OH MAN NOT BAD BULGARIANS BUT :D

  • ke puntazo...

  • heh, that was pretty cool

  • A really generous token, to learn a local song and build bridges on their tour - reach out to people like this. Very nice to see.

  • .

A swan trying to stand on one leg in the water, just to impress a stork? That's what I get when I see these women sing " Oh Susana ".

Kitsch is not the bridge between nations. So let the swan be a swan and a stork, a stork; that's how they, by admiring their unique beauty, can get closer.

Sad, that is the thing that comes into my mind. It's like a native american, with typical clothing and all, singing and twisting up like that man Michael Jackson.

    Konstantin Dimitrov

  • I'd pay to see that.

  • Lame comment.

  • What you're saying does hold some truth. I really can't understand what they were intending to do by going over there and singing an old American country song... There are so many good Bulgarian songs, much more suited for a choir... Perhaps somebody decided this would be more appreciated by the audience of the show... which it was, but they could have got a couple of rednecks to sing it to the same effect...

  • uhm... This is kind of sad considering how amazing Bulgarian overtone/throat singing is. Actually, that's what I was searching for when I stumbled upon this video. But, to each his own, I suppose.

  • surprisingly... i liked it!!! i felt happier!! strange i know...

  • oh poor boy. please go see a doctor... asap.

  • Cool

They meant no harm anyway. It's a tribute to their American public. So why criticize! It's refreshing!

  • Yes, it *is* refreshing - and very friendly! I've heard this group live, and they're wonderful. (I wish I could sing in this way... seriously.)

  • lmfao

theyre bulgarian and theyre trying to have a southern accent

    hahahhaa

  • I don't think so they're trying to sing with southern accents, they're just trying to sing in English so we can understand them. They have Bulgarian accents, obviously. But they're singing something familiar to American audiences as a tribute. It's respectful and sincere, and takes guts.

  • You reckon they know where Alabama is?? Boy, they can sing, they can!!!

  • Wow they are realllllly good. ya they probably don't know were alabama is but... they probably don't even know what they're saying either!

  • Well, now, how do you know that? I am Bulgarian and I can tell you that if I have to do this, I would know what I am singing and where Alabama is. And it has been proven that I know the location of more states than some Americans, so don't just every national by American standards.

  • well put gstgg, my name IS stephen Foster, and I was telling a Russian friend about Stephen Foster the song writer, I told her that I'd bet they even sing Stephen Foster songs in Russia, well I don't know about in Russia, but I am proud they sing it in Bulgaria

  • Yeah but only Bulgariam women can sing in that voice and no one else in the world! I don't care if the lyrics are wrong! :D

  • Cool

They ment no harm anyway. It's a tribute to their American public. So why critisize! It's refreshing!

  • DI VI NE!!!!! You make me cry.

    The women are so beautiful.

    Brave brave

Here is a Susana from Brazil.

    Thanks

  • Divine in every way!!

  • brava!

  • they're really good. sweet.

  • They sang in wrong,my teacher sang this when she was little at her school. Some of the correct lyrics are:

    Oh Susanna!

oh don't you cry for me,

    I'm going to California with

    my washbowl on my knee.

  • I think its a folk song which means lyrics change from location to location and from person to person but the tune stays the same.

  • That's the California gold rush edition. We learned that one in school too back in 4th grade when we learned all about the gold rush. Most versions are more similar to the one here.

  • Umm actually it has been changed to different versions...thats the forty-niners theme song

  • No. The original is "banjo on my knee" but anyways, there are lots of versions of this song - it's a folk song...

  • No, it is most certainly NOT a folk song. It is a published composition by Stephen Foster.

  • my name is susanna..... they say susanna in a funny way!

  • my name is susanna..... they say susanna in a funny way!

    They're bulgarians, for pete's sake!!

  • u know i like susana in my scool thats why i hear this song

  • These cant possibly be the same group of women who sang for the Xena television show. Because the opening theme song and soundtrack is incredible...and this is, well, not. lol

  • It is the same group from Xena!

  • Well I'll be damned...lol

  • this is awsome lol

  • i'm from bulgaria :)

  • Thats horrific, seriously those women should be used instead of bullets.

  • Or in a cannon

  • AHAHAHHA

  • LOVE these women! If you want to pick up a GREAT Bulgar CHoir album, check out "RITUAL" - each track is awsome! I have no idea what they are singing, but the CD is worth it.

    -cheers

    -Sean

  • They could sing it in bulgarian. There is a translation of the text and personaly I preffer the Bulgarian one. However, they are really good.

  • This is an INCREDIBLE clip. Thanks for posting it!!

  • Lovely babooshkas in that troupe.

  • I've only ever heard them sing Kaval Sviri...this is a bit different lol

  • They are sooooo amazingly awesome, they're really good with their tuning, and the way they use their voices is so awesome, it still has the bulgarian sound and harmony!!!!

  • why not?

  • Why the heck are they singing THAT song?!!

  • You seem almost insulted.

  • Hehe :)Poluchilo si e dosta interesno ...
