I subbed out the white sugar for maple syrup to use a more natural sweetener and they turned out amazing! I also didn't add in the dry sugar at the end. I don't know how it compared to the original but I had to stop myself from eating the whole bowl which is a good sign!
this weekend in niagara region ontario canada we are celebrating fall, with the grape and wine festival from sept 18 to 26. Howell Family Pumpkin Farm is a fun place to visit and buy a BIG pumpkin from, I'm posting betty's kitchen pumpkin recipes along with their event info for people to visit them, go home and make betty's yummy recipes for family, friends and coworkers - the idea girl says word press - linda randall
The spices are really good with the pumpkin seeds--it makes kind of a sweet/salty snack! The orange pumpkin has a tougher skin and less pumpkin flesh than a cooking pumpkin. I have a Playlist on bettyskitchen home page of Betty's Holiday Dinner Menu Suggestions--those are the types of things I fix for Thanksgiving and for Christmas! Thanks for your questions!
Thanks! They are different from the pumpkin seeds that just have oil and salt. These are salty and sweet. I just eat a few at a time...They are quite tasty! Thanks (as always) for your lovely comment!
I just wanted to thank you for posting this delicious recipe! I just made them today and both my husband and I love them. We'll be saving our pumpkin seeds to make these for sure.
I've always loved toasted pumpkin seeds but I've never had them in a sweetened form like this so this will certainly be fun to try. Thanks for sharing Betty =)
No, this didn't come from my family. I have read lots of cookbooks as a hobby over the years, and somewhere I ran across the idea of spicing the toasted pumpkins, and we really love the sweet/salty combination! Thanks for your comment!
Thanks for your comment, Jimmy! I hope you are doing well! (Tomorrow is a Jack O'Lantern carving upload--don't know if you would have any interest in that!) Have a great day/evening!
Hi Betty, I was looking very forward to your cooking with pumpkins from the farm. I have a very nice recipe for pan frying pumpkin seeds with sweets and salty spices !!! Your recipe here is beautiful and I can wait to try it!! Bettys Kitchen FTW !
You know, I was going to cook the pumpkin and do pumpkin bread and/or pumpkin pie, but I don't think most of my viewers would go to that trouble when they can open a can of pumpkin. I decided to make a treat that can be done easily and enjoyed by adult and kids, as well! (Pumpkin pie will come later!) Thanks for your (always) lovely comments!
i just made this recipe and its delicous they are so addicting :)

XxbambiexX1 1 year ago
@XxbambiexX1 You can make your own pumpkin pie spice mixture.
1.Measure 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into a small bowl or cup.
2.Add 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger.
3.Add 1/8 teaspoon of ground allspice or ground cloves.
4.Add 1/8 teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
5.Stir to blend.
6.Makes 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice
I hope this helps!

can a regular pumpkin work for the seeds?
sniper9722 1 year ago
@sniper9722 Yes, the seeds are larger and tougher than from a cooking pumpkin, but they toast nicely.

Betty, I Love Your Videos! :) But, For This Video What Is I Dont Have The Pumpkin Pie Spice? Can The Salt And Sugar Work Alone?
TndD253 1 year ago
Yes, you can use salt and sugar alone. If you have nutmeg or cinnamon or allspice, any of those would be good, too. Thanks for your lovely comment!

Hi Betty, I like your recipe with pumpkin seeds.
I always baked the seeds just with salt.
and also would plant the seeds in our school
garden. I will try this next year to put in the
sugar and the spices. Thanks for your recipe.
chuchu7s I didn't know about a cooking pumpkin
what's the difference with the orange pumpkin?
What kind of recipes are you going to have for
Christmas?
