I am a huge AIC fan then and now. As much as I dig Layne I would easily say Jerry Cantrell was a biggest part of the bands music. No dis on Layne at all, they were great together and made one bad ass band. I cant believe some dipshit would sit down and type the guitar player is mediocre. Jerry Cantrell is one of the top guitarists and has been for years. The best way to back that up is to play Check my Brain. It sounds like something off Dirt or SAP, not a band that lost its voice. AIC Rocks

Yes, he's mediocre. I didn't say I didn't like him or his style, or the rest of the band. I liked Kurt Cobain too, and it was a god-awful guitar player. It just always pisses me off seeing a band that thinks they can replace a lead singer. You can't emulate a lead singer. ACDC was the one and only exception to this and that was a freak accident. Hell, they did the same thing with Sublime, and that pissed me off just as much.

In my eyes, layne made the band complete. His voice is just perfect and makes you want to let loose and punch society in the face. Sure, aic now is still great but doesn't have the legacy they once had. I don't think they should play those songs that layne through his heart into either. That's absurd.

wiki Layne and you will see that he did write a lot of the songs and lyrics. Or you could actually go buy the albums and read the credits in the liner notes. Jerry did do the majority, but with the rest of the bands input. They were a group, not just one guy. It wasn't called Layne and the other guys..Layne was the best-far better at giving the lyrics life than Duvall is, but sadly Lane is dead. I would rather hear Duvall sing them than to never hear them sung on a live stage again

bassist mike starr OD'ed one hour before this show, was revived by medical authorities, and still managed to get out onto stage and ROCK the house at this very show......incredible. i think this was one of the incidents that led to him getting fired. still, he was the BEST bassist for this band.......RIP Layne :(
