I played with this phone in the Sprint store the day I went to get my Samsung Intercept..I like the OS, but the keyboard is way too small. For me at least. I could barely type on it. And I thought Blackberry keyboards were tiny. o_o

@bestguninthewest i have the pre and it has so many problems the screen is very sensitive, it gets kind of loose and starts sliding to the side etc. and its funny because i just got the intercept after these things started happening. so i would get the intercept because its an amazing phone.

hd883low17 ur pixels arent dead, they are "stuck" theres a free app ing the app catalog called dead pixel finder, download that and give it a try, worked for me, and as far as the battery, turn ur screen down, and turn gps features off, dim the screen, if not using wifi turn it off not using phone airplane mode hp bought palm thats why the body sucks, good otherwise!

i got my pre 3 days ago...and here's my short and to the point review...

- pretty bad "oreo twist" effect

- really bad battery life

- dead pixels already

webOs is pretty cool...pre's browser is fast...multi-tasking is cool...

but all that adds to nothing impressive cuz the actual hardware sucks...its low-grade materials and not very well built at all...

i'm planning on trading it for an andoid phone already...

I have the Palm Pre, it doesnt feel plasticy at all, I was worried about the same thing... its sleek and smooth it literally feels like a pebble! Once you are privileged enough to have features like this palm, its imposssssible to use any other phone!

I've had the phone and will be getting it again and I can say it does feel a bit plasticky (as opposed to metal or soft touch or something) but not necessarily in a bad way. The phone feels very sleek (I would say as sleek as the iphone except for a few edges when it's slid open) and feels pretty solid for the most part.

I will say that it does have a bit of an oreo effect when closed (mine didn't have it nearly as much as many people on youtube though, and I'm guessing that might be because they actually play with the twisting a lot, increasing the effect).

Other than that though, the phone looks and feels good.

If you think you could stand the small keyboard (which isn't terrible but not very good compared to other physical keyboards) and don't mind not having a 100,000 apps, I would recommend this phone over any other (and I've had an iPhone and a Droid) simply for it's OS (and for the most part the phone feels really nice too)

Had the phone for a week now and just sold it on ebay. It felt okay at the first two days, but then started to wobble and creak which made it feel really, really cheap. And even the quite good OS couldn´t convince me to keep the pre. So the next phone is definitely going to be the new iPhone.

The BIG thing holding me back from getting an iPhone again was multitasking, And I recently found out that you can multitask on the iPhone if you jailbreak it (even then I'm hearing it doesn't look or work quite as well as the Pre's). But is it worth it to jailbreak the phone (and subsequently void the warranty)? Not sure about that yet.

More and more phones are doing multitasking (and it's the one essential thing the iPhone lacks in my opinion) and the #1 complaint about Pre was hardware (not well built and too small of a keyboard and the vertical slider period. It would have made more sense to have a virtual keyboard for one handed use and a landscape keyboard for "real" typing than the other way).

Yeah that´s a point. And that´s because I wait for the next Gen. I expect Apple to enable multitasking features then, that would be just consequent. And otherwise Apple will lose too many customers. I´m also not a fan of jailbreaking, it really slowed down my iPod touch. Nevertheless the Pre was a really bad experience in my case.
