Thanks for the comments. I understand that the lyrics originate, with some artistic changes from a broadside ballad sheet dating from around 1820. The story it appears is of American origin and as far as I know no known original tune is exists. Nic was and still is very fond of composing tunes to broadside ballads where non are known and I believe this is the origin of this tune.

Very nice version but that tune was not written by Nic Jones unless he borrowed Doctor Who's Tardis and went back to the early 19th Century!

P.S great version!- A little faster than normal but it fits your voice this way better
