  • Like the agents from the Matrix: Moooore! :D

Funny to see, clusters are still a mistery to me, hehe.

  • I have 2 computers and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to connect them together and make a cluster

  • @redbook5544332211: Allthough I can't help you with your question, I also think this involves a lot of coding (I'm not saying that you are not good with code, I just don't know if that's what you think of doing or not.)

I think you should do some searches on "Best Linux distro for cluster environment" or "How to make a Linux cluster" I think that should reward you with some very useful information :-).

If you manage to get it working, well, happy clustering! :-)

  • Wow... there are 5 elements in this video that lead me to believe obumrabit has no life:

    1) The sheer size of this cluster would cost a whole lot.

    2) He would need an ethernet cable for each one of those computers and something to plug them all into.

    3) He took the time to set up a cluster with all those computers.

    4) He wrote a shell script to open the CD trays of what must be over 35 computers.

    5) He probably has to turn all of those computers off when he's done.

  • @ross817

    1. If you buy outdated computers in bulk it's not too bad.

    2. And a hub.

    3. *There is no response*

    4. That's not too hard to do.

    5. If he can do a mass ejection script, a mass shutdown script is just as easy.

  • @ross817 Well, if he would be smart, he would made just the script and used netboot for all the machines, mounting the same nfs directory for boot. Then it would be just a matter of plugging in the cables and booting the computers (maybe with the magic packet for wake on lan :D)

  • can you say large corporate network :D set it lose at microsoft!

  • Yes this is nice but can it make me breakfast?

  • This was funny - I don;'t know why, I just can't stop laughing.

  • lol ! this is awesome !

Do all the computers act as one ? Or did you have to create a script that eject every CD drive ?

  • Holy mother of god!

  • ahahahahah coool!!

  • Love it!

  • how many ghz??

  • hahahahahah

  • linux rocks!

  • lool 'eject -t' Nice job you have lool

  • That's pretty awesome!

  • The powers of clustering.

  • lol @ 0:12

  • sad to think thats probably only 4 i7's now

  • Lol..

  • awsome

  • made me smile thanks

  • For some reason I'm trying to figure out how one could turn that big stack of systems into one giant segmented display by ejecting the cdrom drive doors. Perhaps afix a piece of colored plastic to the bottom of the drive door so when it ejects it swings down?

  • @unnaturaltragedy i'm not sure i understand what your asking but...that is probably a supercomputer or a mainframe, regardless of what it is all of those are clustered together rather then a normal network so basically you have to think of it as ONE computer, all he is doing is running a shell script that executes the command to eject the optical drive.

  • @itachisxeyes Well the description describes using ssh and scripting to obtain the ejections so it seems they could be individually controlled. I was simply proposing the idea of making each ejecting cd tray function as a "pixel", using a colored piece of plastic or construction paper affixed to the bottom of the tray that would be visible upon opening. So you could open a certain arrangement of drives and form graphics, such as a crude smiley face etc.

  • Wow lots of computers

  • LOL AWESOME
