Those darknuts were actually "feirce" darknuts, which have stronger attacks, more health, faster attacks, and attack you with a spin attack if you try to do it to them. You can tell them apart from normal darknuts from their red armor and unique helmets.

Hey, NCS, for future reference, if you ever play Wind Waker again, when the head armor of the dark nuts are removed, you can stun them with the boomerang. watch?v=XsEAJV_2Q64 this is the YouTube url to my video of this, Like ChuggaAConroy's, it's a sped up musical compilation, except for the last floor, it's at normal speed, with the ganondorf battle music, Oh, an those dark nuts at the bottom, were so brutal, one knocked me down while I was mid air, after executing a parry attack. To the people wondering about the "one rupee at the bottom" thing, I think in the PAL version or something, the Heart Piece got replaced by a yellow rupee. You were closer to home than you thought.

I don't know if you played Batman: Arkham Asylum, but they put secret room in that game that foreshadowed the upcoming sequel (reached by bombing a specific, unmarked wall). Nobody found it. Eventually the developers got tired of waiting and told everyone themselves.

The trick to the Darknuts is to just remove their body armor. After that, they'll pretty much end up killing themselves if you just dodge them faster enough.

Oh, and if you're lucky, they'll often accidentally cut the armor off their friends' backs as well.

I always did the magic armor quest before this. That way, I could drink grandmas soup, then put on the armor. The armor makes it so that you can't take damage, so you can't lose your double damage.

its too bad i did not find this walkthrough sooner :P I would have suggested getting magic armor before doing the trials.

You see if you combined the use of magic armor and the soup and i think you can use your hurricane spin too, basically you can do a ton of damage, but you take no damage and because you take no damage the effect of the soup does not go away.
