awesome, unique playing. sorta steve topping meets fripp, he has a deep understanding of theory and super chops. best young player i've heard in a while
Talented, but makes a lot of noise. BTW, its a travesty to compare Holdsworth to Greg Howe, who's really a heavy metal player. ( A very good heavy metal player by the way ).
Perhaps it's a travesty to compare anyone to Holdsworth, nonetheless, many good players are influenced. Greg Howe used to be a "heavy metal player". Catch up and check out his current stuff ok.
Another guy who's not a fusion player but is often thought to be-- Steve Morse. ( As can be seen from the fact that he plays for Deep Purple-- a heavy metal band) Well, he did make some fusion records, so maybe he has a little more claim to being part of that genre.
Fantastic. Somebody doing something unique that builds on what has gone before. The most exciting guitar playing I have heard since the early days of Steve Topping. Does he have any CDs available?
Weird. . . I found this while I was looking for Steve Topping. It reminds me a bit of something Paul Stacy does on Gary Husband's video (which Topping is on, as well), but in either case you are correct.
Proclamations, proclamations. Talented? No doubt. Groundbreaking? I don't think so. Let's wait and see if he will allow LIFE, not just music teachers, to show him something. I'll check back in about 2 years.
I was in this kids dorm freshman year at berklee, and I just remember going downstairs to the practice rooms and there was this huge crowd of kids, none of who know what to expect at this school, and seeing this kid just absolutely tearing shit up when he was 18 like none of us had ever seen. No one said it but we were all thinking the same thing, "I quit!"
i've seen both holdsworth and howe , and like them bryan possesesan unique sound , thats what makes the difference between good and great , he is a great ,and the catch is he's only 20 , when he came to berklee , everyone was in shock on how good he was. HE IS THE NEXT BIG CAT , never seen ne1 quite like him
he's really good and all but I doubt he could become kind of fusion guitar when we still have greats like allan holdsworth and greg howe and have upcoming greats like guthrie govan.
Bryan is an absolutely brilliant player. I cringe when I think about the extreme void of talent represented by these people commenting.
