so how is it you cut a piece of music from a tune, and turn it into a moveable 'sound wave'? I am basic learner - does it just involve ripping the tune into Ableton, and chopping it up?
That is really cool. I've been a big fan of Bob James going back some 20 years now and recently I've started liking Royksopp's work after hearing it on SOMA FM.
Actually both Eple and Ableton came out the same year... 2001 as far as I can remember. But Ableton was a very simple program back then, and wouldn't have been used to do this... but you could re-create it with a sampler from the 80s if you wanted to.

That was excellent, the drop down in pitch I didn't understand till just now and I thought they sampled the lower notes obviously not! :)
