The donkeys are perfectly healthy and the food coloring won't harm them. I think it's cute the owner cared so much about the children missing the zebras he would take the time to do this.

@YekaDruid Well, considering the Gaza war ended January 2009 and this video was posted in November of 2009, depending on whether or not they got the donkeys right away they could have had like 7 months to get them to a healthy weight.

@SmurfSmurf701 Thanks to lousy handling of resources, actually. Only Israel has been able to successfully cultivate Gaza. To this day I cannot figure out why Egypt demanded Israel return Gaza when they're the ones who gave it to Israel in the first place. Gave, not surrendered. Gaza was useless to them.

Granted, Gaza has never fully belonged to Israel, but that doesn't change the fact that Egypt wrongfully believes it's entitled to revoke its real estate gifts.

I had heard of this story last year. The original zebras had died of starvation. Due to economic issues, importing new ones would cost an obscene amount of money - the likes of which a dilapidated little zoo just doesn't have. They painted donkeys for the sake of the children. Kids don't care, heh.

I'd rather they waited until they can feed the animals before they seriously got any more. The place needs an overall upgrade.
