  • lol he gave a master class at the monterey jazz festival last year and he definately isnt a good teacher as far as words are concerned. His playing though... its magic haha

  • 2 people thought they knew how to play piano

  • This getting cut off at the end is a crime against humanity

  • is wynton on drums?

  • Brad 24yr, Brian 24yr, Christian 22yr, Joshua 25yr. I thought jazz was for old people lol

  • Absolutely stunning ! It's just major triads moving up in fourths ,yes !

    A lot of thanks

  • does anyone know the chord progression for this piece? im tryin to learn how to improv and this would be a nice to start off with. ..I'll have to get really good to do what he's doing though lol

  • @josephem buy some fake books, or real books, and go crazy!

  • the definition of long form soloing right there

  • Great pianist, also plays on the album Timeless Tales where he plays wonderful to.

  • Is 6:44 a quote from anywhere specifically? sounds like some classical lick but I don't know for sure

  • @PeterGarofaloJazz

  • @PeterGarofaloJazz It's just major triads moving up in fourths :) he does it again quickly right around the 7min mark :)

  • some of joshua redmans playing seems a little bit flashy. he seems like a showman at times. playing all that altissimo shit. but this is pretty sweet. and 6:44 my jaw came undone

  • I hear MB!!!!!

  • Wow!!!!

  • niice this reminds me of a calmer version of brecker

  • What is he playing at 6:44????

  • @alphaJA It's called "jazz," and Brad studied how to play it at NASA. :-)

Seriously, though, my ears hear him move from that unison 2-hand, to a clave pattern with 10ths between the 2 hands. Brad's left hand is . . . breath-taking. And his face is so calm, like he's hearing tomorrow's weather forecast. The video fades out right before you see all the pianists in the audience commit suicide.

  • @mwesterholm Brad looks so calm cause he just shot up.

  • @alphaJA A song.... lol

  • Einfach nur genial...Saxophon und Piano

  • quistu sape

  • my fav sax

  • The best sax lesson

  • wow this is actually my favorite playing from brad...I've never seen him play so...bop before lol, for a while there I actually thought he just couldn't....silly me. He totally smoked the stage.

  • I first heard this song in my history of jazz class.

When i heard the intro, i was like wtf?

But this song is ssssssoooooo great.

  • what a BADASS lineup!!! holy shit!!!

@ blakguitar: yes, the intro is out - it's some genius stuff if you listen closely. the tune is all up in there

  • is that brad mehldau on piano???

  • @juancheras Of course.

  • damn wheres the rest?!!

  • ! Wow. It has been posted just a few days ago... I was looking for St. Thomas by Joshua Redman...! Thanks.

  • excellent. he really sounded a lot like branford in this time period. although he still, of course has his own unique and entirely tasteful style. I love Joshua Redman. altissimo is impeccable.
